Here's to my first post and to hoping I never see a mosquito again! I thought the bugs were bad last year...

Ahead of the Big Boys MTB clinic in Copper Harbor, MI, I decided to spend a night at the tip of the Keweenaw Peninsula on High Rock Bay. The weather was great, bugs awful, but the Bronco rocked!

For reference, the tent is a Roofnest Meadowlark; it's a bit small for me (I am just over 6ft tall), but I was still comfortable! I'll probably set up the awning and screen room tonight when I say at the state park.

Based on the conditions I experienced:
The roads from Copper Harbor to High Rock Bay were easily managed by the Sport, the first of which was a pretty typical dirt/gravel road (4-5 miles), which a typical sedan could likely manage, the second more rough and trail-like (3-4 miles) with some deep-ish water crossings and pools. Nothing that I experienced was more difficult than anything I saw at the Moab Off-Roadeo. The full journey, from town to camp, was just under an hour.

I like living on the edge; but in all seriousness, maybe a bit close, but that's the cost of a little seclusion and a good view!

The worry in me wasn't concerned with the chance of falling, but moreso that being the day the lake wears away at the cliff enough to take it down. 😟

Hell yeah man, that's awesome to see! I decided to drive my 2003 Honda Element to the Keweenaw Rocket Range back in 2018, and my suspension never recovered, ha. I've been itching to get up to the Keweenaw again now with my Badlands and revisit those two-track sites. Great to hear the BL handled it all with ease.

Beautiful! I've heard ingesting yeast will keep blood suckers (fleas, mosquitos, tse tse flies, etc) from biting -- so drink lots of beer while camping out :giggle:
