What a hypocrite. Jim, I think we will decide what's best for us and our families.

The market will decide what sells and what doesn't.

He say's we need to buy small cars while Ford pumps out large pickups by the tens of thousands. It's the pickups that have the largest profit margin and what keeps Ford afloat.

He sank billions of dollars into the EV program which fell on its face with huge losses.

Sorry Jim, I don't trust you for a minute.

The more EVs Ford can sell the more V8 mustangs and gas sucking trucks SUVs they can sell due to federal mandates.

Farley lives in a bubble or is a liar. Or maybe both. I've always been a guy who puts his money where his heart is. This nutjob may have just driven me away from Ford. His biggest crime is losing billions on EV's that should have gone to shareholders and employees. He's too committed at this point to be objective. Ford likely will continue to put up with him. Only a President Trump will dampen his affinity for EV's. Union boss has sold out employees, too.

I understand where he is coming from. He was hired to make money for Ford. Which means selling pick-up trucks that hardly anyone actually needs. But he is also a car enthusiast who realizes bigger is not always better.

Market research probably showed that no one will buy an EV with 120 mile range. That means big battery, big vehicle is the only way.
Also....Our cars send data back to Ford so he probably knows that 50% of people never go more than that.

A lot of contradictions in his statements and the path he led Ford down. Warranty work is eating into profits because of quality issues. Not impressed with his leadership at all.

He should also know that they lose about $100k for every EV sold. Financial statements mostly speak the truth. Farley's statement about EV's is not supported by any factual evidence. I suspect he is trying to save his job over his blind commitment to EVs. I'v seen polls that reflect half the people who own EVs say they won't buy another. Like someone else said "How about letting the customer decide what is best for them?"

Maybe you live in a bubble, too! :) Where I live lots of people use pickups in their jobs. Contractors, farmers, ranchers. True some folks don't need a truck, but legions of hard working people have to have a truck. And right now it's really difficult to get a Ford 2500. Few people drive these that don't need them.

Better served how? By not taking road trips? By paying 5 figures to rewire your house? Saves on maintenance to be sure & works well for just getting groceries, so there could be some use cases.

But I swear this guy has dementia spouting off whatever comes to mind. Consumers need to embrace small cars. Yeah but they’re not & that’s why you don’t make them anymore, at least not in N.America. Better served by EVs? Ok help me get there. What about a hybrid or PHEV? Nope don’t make many of those either.

if his plan is to get everybody to go to the Toyota lot next door & shop their offerings instead he’s doing a bang up job. Right now the customer is deciding what’s best for them & it’s apparently not small EV’s. & certainly not at the price Ford would need to charge for one to make it profitable.

That doesn't necessarily mean a truck driven for personal use isn't a neccesity. Many people own heavy RVs, boats and other toys that require a truck. Ford's best selling and most profitable vehicles are trucks. Had Farely concentrated on building what customers want instead of what woke corporate guys in the pockets of the government want, Ford would have made a hell of a lot more money for shareholders and employees the past few years. He can't let go of his EV obsession. Fact. The vast majority of Americans don't want an EV and for many commerical applications, they simply don't work.

Farley's comment was unnecceary, arrogant and self-serving. He continues to paint himself into a corner with his obsession for EVs.

The EV's will have a bigger place in the market at some point. But that dog isn't hunting right now.

If he would sit down and read what he said in that press release, he would be asking for his crow sandwich on rye.

I don't like EVs. They exist to game the system. And the system is designed to be taken advantage of.
They expect fleet wide average to be like 40 mpg. Well that's how we will have one Shelby GT500 and five 8000lb EVs. Late stage capitalism, y'all.
