Besides the rear gate seal I would have the dealer check the two louvers hidden behind the rear side panels below the windows in the cargo area. They are hard to get too but a body guy probably can very easily. These louvers are mechanical and vent to the outside by positive interior air pressure when you shut the door or drive with the windows down, have the AC on high, etc. Its possible one of them didn't close and exhaust gasses are drawn up inside. Might be a stretch but its worth checking.
I told the last dealer that looked at it and he said the sport doesn't have them only the full size bronco. One of the rear window defroster wires was pinched in the tailgate seal , I pulled that out and no change. This issue is only when the hvac unit is on.

A tech is taking a ride with me this afternoon from a 3rd dealership. We'll see how that pans out.
