I just ordered an engine cover. I can’t wait to see the results

The first thing I would say is you cannot rely on the indicated MPG for accuracy. It’s a happy coincidence that your indicated mileage increased after installing the engine cover, but there are too many factors that go into the measurement to say with certainty any single factor is responsible for a given change. Additionally, the cover is only cosmetic, and does nothing to effect engine performance, so it’s doubtful the cover is responsible for any actual increase in fuel mileage, but it might affect indicated mileage. One of the parameters the computer uses to compute fuel mileage is under-hood temperature, which might be different if the sensor is under the cover. If that's the case, I would expect to see your indicated mileage begin to drop back down to the previous number fairly quickly as the computer updates it’s baseline numbers.Sorry I honestly have not ever posted anything on a site like this. Mileage prior to install of engine cover was 29-31 have had the bronco sport for almost a year. It has been a week since we installed the engine cover and mileage has been consistent to 35-36 MPG. Regardless I just thought I would post about the change just an FYI for others and to be helpful. Thanks
Agree. I would use trip 2 at the same time as trip 1. Let trip 2 run for the 3 cycles like Mark said. The first thing I would say is you cannot rely on the indicated MPG for accuracy. The fuel economy number generated by the car’s computer is notoriously inaccurate—typically on the optimistic side. For accuracy, fill your tank and set your trip meter. Let the trip meter run for three tanks while keeping track of how much you put in the tank at each fill up. Then divide the number shown on the trip meter by the gallons used. Do that and I suspect you’ll find your actual mileage is a few MPG less than indicated.

please let me know if it changes for you also…I just ordered an engine cover. I can’t wait to see the results
?… after adding an engine cover the gas mileage improved 5-6 miles a gallon
Sounds possible if your dealer on top of Pike's Peak and you checked fuel mileage when you stopped for first fill up after the install??I was disappointed that my bronco sport didn’t come with an engine cover, so I purchased one and had it put on my bronco. Did anyone else notice after adding a engine cover the gas mileage improved 5-6 miles a gallon? Thanks
Well everyone needs to have fun on a rainy day I suppose…enjoySounds possible if your dealer on top of Pike's Peak and you checked fuel mileage when you stopped for first fill up after the install??
And no harm intended, just having fun on rainy Saturday afternoon.
Hi Lilly! Welcome to the forum. Please don't be offended by the reply's of all those folks here that think they know everything. Actually, Major is probably the only one that really DOES know everything, and he's a really nice people. Just take things for what they're worth, which is usually nothing, and enjoy the occasional help that you can really get from others that want to help!Sorry I honestly have not ever posted anything on a site like this. And I hit the powerball after I got my engine cover.I believe it increases horsepower by about 25% as well!
Those engine covers are no joke.
