I have a 2021 Big Bend that did not come with an engine cover. I have purchased the engine cover and required studs, but am struggling with removing the plastic brace (that was installed in leu of the engine cover) in the back right corner. I can see how the brace is locked in and over read posts that say to just “pull up”, I am not experienced in working with cars and am afraid that I’m going to break something if I apply to much pressure in pulling up. Any more detailed instructions or tips in removing the plastic brace in the back right corner?

Make sure you cut the 2 zip ties prior to trying to take it off. Keep those 2 hoses clear after you take the zip ties off and honestly just pull straight up. You won't break anything, you just need to bracket to these from the studs head

I had the same problem. Pulling up just wouldn't do it. Finally used a quick hard upward jerking motion and the bracket popped off.

Look at this as an opportunity to buy a new tool! Seriously.... cuss a bit, and then go tell your wife that you need an under-hood bracket remover. Then go buy whatever you want.

Put some vaseline on the end of a qtip and rub it around the inside of the bracket where the stud is. Then using a pliers pull it straight up. I did this and it came off pretty easy.

Thank you for all of the guidance, tips and direction. I feel ready to go, but don’t get a chance to install the weekend.
One last question. it seems like no one definitely know why Ford stopped installing the engine covers on all BS, but at some point they also started including the optional ceramic heater (I don’t know the technical name) on all new builds as standard. Are these two events related?
maybe the best way to ask, since my BS didn’t come with the engine cover, but did have the optional ceramic heater…is it OK to install the engine cover?

Sorry, maybe not the right term…but look at the window sticker. There is a “supplemental PTC heater” that was an option that was included as “no charge”. I was wondering if there was any correlation between that option all of the sudden being included as standard (or no charge) and the engine cover not being included.

Did you install yet. I did mine today. Like they said. Just pull. Make sure 2 hoses are out of way. I put 2 hands on and said 1 2 3 up ?
