I received a rubber duck today. At home, not on the vehicle. From someone that knew nothing of its traditions. ?

In case anyone is interested…

“The tradition of placing rubber ducks on Jeeps, also known as "Jeep Ducking" or "Duck, Duck Jeep", is a way for Jeep owners to show kindness and spread cheer to each other. The ducks can come in different shapes, sizes, and designs, and are often attached to the dashboard. The goal is to surprise the owner and make them smile, and the ducks can also add personality to the Jeep.”

“The tradition started in June 2020 when Allison Parliament, a woman from Ontario, Canada, bought a bag of rubber ducks from a convenience store after a difficult encounter with a man. She gave one duck to another Jeep owner with a note that said, "Have a Great Day", in an attempt to spread cheer during the pandemic. The small interaction turned out to be much bigger than expected, and the trend has since spread throughout the Jeep enthusiast community in the United States and other countries around the world.”

Allison Parliament died suddenly on June 22, 2024.

And there are those of us who "buck" Bronco's with duck "horses" or ducks with cowboy hats (or other trinkets) and a note that says "You've been bucked". Lots of comments on the FB forum with lots of different opinions.
