I dropped a ring down the defrost vent in the drivers side. Looks like it collects toward the middle and goes straight down. Does not look like it’s easy to access. Is anyone aware of a clean out that’s somewhere easy to access without removing the panel? Also, does anyone know how to remove the panel, or just the top portion?

I appreciate the replies. Unfortunately it's not on the cabin air filter. And we dropped a scope and couldn't down deep enough to see it. I'm afraid it's on the heater block so will definitely need to remove the entire dash. I'm waiting for my Ford dealer's service department to get back to me on when and how much.

What a nightmare this is.
Just curious, how long was the scope?

Only made it a foot and a half maybe before hitting too many corners to continue. Maybe a hair more.

What did the cost end up being? This happened to me today.

It was outrageous. Cannot remember. But we never went through with it. Actually, we are about to attempt to do it ourselves this next week. I’m going to be scoping the forum again to see if there’s been any updates or others who have done similar projects. Because of the location of the heater box, you have to remove the entire dash. Sure going to install some sort of mesh in those damn vents when I’m done.

I haven’t found anything helpful so far. My wedding band and engagement ring are sitting in there. Cannot see them with a scope.

Oh man, sorry about that. Mine is my wedding band as well. Hoping to get it back at some point.

Im forgetting the terminology but if you happen to hear them sliding as you drive back and forth, they are likely still on top of a valve that opens and closes when the defrost vent is engaged. Mine was on that for about a week. I couldn’t get to it, but knowing a bit more now, I think it’s easier to. fewer steps to remove things. Once it falls lower, it’s in the heat box and you have to go all the way down.
