I thought the vehicle is supposed to have a chance to warm up and allow the charging system to be at a certain level before the start stop function starts working.

am I correct with these broncos?

Apparently ours just starts doing it even when it’s cold and has not charged.

Not sure what it's "supposed" to do but mine starts shutting off right away unless it's like hot out and the AC is on.

Can it be disabled?

Yes there is a situational disable button on the center panel with an A symbol which will turn it off unless you hit the button again. There is a pressure trick at an individual stop where you gently release the brake and re-brake and it will shut it off for that stop. Or Forscan can permanently disable if I'm not mistaken

As for use, mine comes on after pulling out of the garage...but compared to my wife's jeep, it's incredibly smooth and unnoticeable. I truly can't tell it's active most of the time...and I consider myself sensitive to the pedal. I often could sense my challenger needed an adjustment just by the feel of the throttle response. The mechanics stopped questioning me when I'd bring it in for a check. The bronco is smooth

Mine doesn’t start working until it’s fully warmed up. But bear in mind I’m in Wisconsin, it doesn’t warm up until July!

i disabled the one on our Jeep. However, I believe it had to warm up as well. It also has a separate aux battery specifically for the start stop.

stealership did confirm today that the “newer cars” have the start stop activating sooner. Our Jeep is a 2021 ?

Mine never works when air temps are below 35-40F
But will work in warm weather after a minute long warm up and a few minutes of driving.
Basically the temp gage needs to start moving before it works.

The stop/start can be turned off through a Forscan controller. I read about it in the Forscan thread in this forum.

My 2022 Bronco sport never works. It stop working with around 1000 miles. I now have a issue with check charging system. I have had it in for service 3 times and the dealership has replaced the alternator and a wire. However, it is going back to the dealership again on Monday because of the check charging system and the start/stop does not ok.

You can also control auto start stop activation by modulating the brake pedal pressure.

My auto start stop wasn't working correctly either.
The display would say auto start stop disabled due to vehicle charging no matter how long or far I had driven.
I took it to the dealer twice.
1st time said nothing is wrong, 2nd time I said I don't want it back until it's fixed.
Dealer replaced the battery, now it works perfectly, almost invisible.

I don't know what prompted your dealer to replace your alternator, did they actually test the battery as well?

Yes, they told me they did. They said the battery was good. At this point I don’t believe anything they tell me. I am going to do what you did and tell them I do not want it back until it is fixed correctly.

There are different levels of battery testing. I don’t remember what the test was but somebody here had their battery tested by the dealer and it showed it was good. There was a Ford rep in the shop and they recommended a deeper test that showed the battery was not good. If nothing else, I would request/demand they replace the battery. It’s a simple and relatively inexpensive thing to do.
