My CarPlay quit working. Of course it happened right after my phone updated, but I haven’t seen anything saying the update causes problems. The blue light around the USB data port isn’t glowing. Is it supposed to always? I can’t remember. The phone charges, and is recognized. I can play music, podcasts, etc through the system but only by using the interface on the phone itself. I have no CarPlay interface on the car’s screen. Anybody?

And then it just started working. I’d tried different phones, different cables, reset everything. Re-paired everything. Still didn’t work yesterday. Then this morning it was fine. Maybe Sync updated last night?

Strange things happen during OTA updates, which take forever.
You can check which Sync3 version you have by going to Settings/General/About Sync.
If you are running Version 3.4 Build 21020, there are many things that won't work correctly, especially SiriusXM Travel Link (if you have NAV).
I got so frustrated with the OTA updates that I eventually turned off Automatic Updates and WiFi connection. Apparently you have to do both in order to stop the updates. If your system is now working to your satisfaction, I suggest turning off the auto updates.

have zero issues with auto sync 3 updates or nav on the wife's 2020 Escape but then we both run Android phones

Since the phone had just updated, I assumed that was the problem, but then couldn’t get it to work with a different phone that wasn’t updated. Seemed like too big of a coincidence for it to have been Sync, given the timing of the phone update. I tried all day to get it to work with no luck then it started working the next morning. I hate not knowing what the problem was and how it was resolved.
