I've got built-in navigation on my 2021 Outer Banks. I downloaded the free (one-time) navigation update via the internet, put it on a USB stick and inserted it in the console as per the directions. It never worked. Then I took it into the dealer and he tried it. Still nothing. He suggested paying the $40 for Ford to send me a USB with the update. Haven't done it yet (they may say I already downloaded it so no dice). Just wondered if anyone else had the problem.

It's a one-time update, but you can get an update annually, free.

Included with the map download, you should have a file called "DownloadInstructions.pdf".

Make sure you read and follow those instructions TO THE LETTER.

You need to format and name the USB device syncmyride and most importantly, include the license file along with the update files. Good luck.

I had difficulty too. A lot of aggravation that was worth the $40 purchase with easy install.

I understand that the USB needs to be formatted exfat rather than ntfs. NTFS will work fine for a music USB stick
