Perhaps I've missed it but on the screens I've looked at, I don't see an indicator for which gear the car is in. At least not in normal mode and without the manual button enabled.

Badlands can on the instrument cluster when using the paddle shifters (assuming you mean gears 1-8 for the 8sp 8f35 transmission)

I think it also displays when you hit the 'M' manual mode button.

Its just a curiosity of mine, more than a need, or want.
I haven't used the shift paddles yet, nor manual mode, nor any other modes, other than normal and slippery.
Other than towing, or slow mo FWDing, not sure why one would need them.
My F150 shows the gears all the time. I have locked out some of the upper gears while towing in the mountains, to stay out of the turbos, or to maintain a slow speed while on forest service trails but I don't actually have to switch to manual mode to do that.
Like I said, just a curiosity.
