Off topic but as a Ford Canada retiree who worked with our dealers, I’m interested in which dealer you went to and where your cabin is located.
I was up in Thunder Bay. So I was at the Pinewood Ford dealer. Really great people at that dealer - professional. They got me in & out same day without an appointment.

Conversely: Pinewood didn't have enough time for an oil change. So I made an appointment along my drive route at the Timberland Ford in Timmins. That was a nightmare. My appointment was at 8am. I arrived on time only to be told that they forgot to enter it into the computer. Oil change took 2+ hours. And all the while sitting there, nothing but F-Bombs coming out of the service department. It's a small showroom, you could hear the F-Bombs throughout the dealer. Its not that the F-Bombs offended me. I was offended by the lack of professionalism. And the kicker - I went to pay and they don't take American Express. I literally had to ask, 'Since when does Ford not accept AMEX?'...

Curious if you've experienced either of these dealers mentioned?

I asked you similar questions in my prior post .. thanks for this reply and you can ignore my prior post

I think knowing where the crank sensor is located would be helpful so you can look around to see f there is other damage or if would be possible something external like a branch could have caused the wire damage since you drive in the remote area

I had looked at the pic and didn’t see copper corrosion other than what would be normal due to exposed wiring .. looked to me to have been pulled or chewed
Sorry, I'm catching up on all the replies.

I was thinking some rock damage (lots of rocks and boulders on the 22km dirt road I take up there).

Corrosion might have been too strong of a word. But yes, it looks like exposed wiring to me as well. If the wires were recently stripped the copper would be more shinny IMO.

I think you will know once you determine exactly where that crank sensor is located, this article is for the F-150 (https://www.ford-trucks.com/how-tos/a/ford-f150-f250-how-to-replace-crankshaft-position-sensor-359989)

I don’t know the location for the 1.5L.

(Copper wire exposed to the elements could take on a dark color in less than a day but depends on your environment)

This can happen anywhere. Normal little city, sidewalks no derelict buildings etc. Neighbors car parked on paved driveway a week or two on vacation come home and the wiring is chewed up like corn on the cob. Several thousand dollars damage and tow bill. Before this soy based stuff too.

My 2007 GMC Sierra daily driver the critters made a nest on the engine using the firewall insulation.

Opened the hood on my uncle's truck and a rabbit jumped out from his condo on the top of the engine. I could go on.......

Yup. 2004 Chevy Silverado cost me $700 (or so) to repair rodent damage to wiring. The shop I towed it to took about an hour to figure out what was wrong--they knew exactly what to look for.

Case in point - under the hood of my '69 Chevy this morning - I just had that air cleaner off the night before and was going back to remove it again for an adjustment. Makes me wonder what has crawled up under the Bronco sport that usually parks there.

Makes for a good hood ornament if you could mount it. Did you set it free?
Catch and release into a flower pot. Isn't even a big year for tree frogs. Other years you have to check under patio chair cushions before sitting down. ?

I normally see them in the stretched out and flatten condition. Nice to see one in the still plump condition.
