... I guess when snow is expected, turn the vehicle off with wipers in midstream....
That can’t be good for a wiper motor can it? Don’t the wipers try to “go home” (into starting position) when the vehicle is started? Wouldn’t that put stress/strain on the motor if the wipers couldn’t come back down?

When I was checking out some BS’s on a local dealer’s lot I actually noticed the recessed, but fully exposed when taking snow into the equation, wiper position.

If there’s no de-icer element there that wouldn’t be so bad if the front defroster could reach that area but I doubt it? (I don’t know that as I don’t own one, yet, just from observation...).

You are correct: but the idea is to clear that area BEFORE you start the vehicle. Or (I haven't checked this) flip the wipers away from the windshield. Down side of course you can't remote start your vehicle. Basically screwed or more screwed..LOL And no the defroster doesn't help.. just a bad design for colder climates: sorta like the 70's vehicles with hidden wipers... maybe why we don't see that design anymore....
