Surprising. I would have thought wheelbase commonality with the focus/escape platform would have been desired for cost. I wonder if something like radiators/intercoolers could not be packaged in front of the wheels because the front end overhang seems to be more (+1.6”?.....106.7”-105.1”) than the prelim photos from Nov 2018. I miss that snub nose.

This suggests the hybrids are coming later (if at all) and that they should remain AWD. (Lincoln Corsair PHEV system)

With such a small change, it could simply be a different suspension geometry (more tuned for off road) that creates the shorter wheelbase. No actual change to the platform, just suspension and sheet metal.

1.5L Ecoboost 3cyl /8spd AT as the std powertrain: I was afraid of that. If the 2.0L will only be available with higher end trims and/or packages, I'll wait to see what the hybrid packaging will be.
Disappointing. So far it's a Rugged-Looking C2 variant. I'll wait for the specs, but this ain't good so far.

Yes it is only 1.5” shorter.....I was personally hoping for something a little larger even though it’s 2” larger than my older ford escape...the kids are older now and will force me into the “big” bronco...lol.

the 2020 escape has adjustable rear seats. You can slide them all the way back to the rear hatch almost. Most rear leg room in its class.

I’m sick of people saying this is a Jeep Renegade competitor. It’s definitely a Jeep Compass Rival.
or am I missing something???
Renegade vs Ecosport
Compass vs Bronco Sport
Cherokee vs Escape
Grand Cherokee vs Edge
Durango vs Explorer
Wrangler vs Bronco
Wagoneer vs Expedition
