This is for the members of this forum who now own a Bronco Sport, but several years ago owned a 1984-1990 Bronco II.
I found this MotorWeek road test of the new 1984 Bronco II. 36 years ago a Bronco II, today a Bronco Sport.

What a cool video! With 115hp and a 4,500 tow rating why is that not possible today? I suppose framing but 115hp and a 0-60 in over 15 seconds is underwhelming. I'll take my Sport. Oh, and the braking segment from 60

That thing is cool. Looks like a great candidate for a small block ford V8 swap!

the fatal flaw of the bronco II was its high centre of gravity and were notorious for flipping. not to mention the mpg of it back in the day.....
This was my spouse' first car and missed it dearly. I had friends with it and it was pretty cutting edge for its time despite its flaws.
Thus this is where our purchase of the Sport OB came into play to replace our outgoing SUV. We both love it and do have some nostalgia of the ole Bronco II.
Great find of the vid to the OP!

My guess is that the non standard tow rating system used by the manufacturers back then is why the BII was rated that high compared to vehicles today of similar size.

I own a 88 BII now and am waiting for my BS.
My foremost concern before driving a BS was that it would feel like car and not much like our BII. We took several test drives (Big Bend, Outer Banks and Badlands) are were in pleased that it has a similar driving feel to that of our BII, just modernized by thirty plus years.
The extra horsepower and torque over the BII are a huge plus. I've been waiting for a modernized BII for a long time. The Escape could have been it, but Ford just could get it far enough away from being a car and close to a truck until now.

This is good marketing and review, just plain give me the details...even has the noise level dB, real life demos, did you see that tire smoke while braking at 55mph!!? :)

I had a 1984 Ford Bronco II, blue on blue. I loved the car and thought at the time it was the "perfect vehicle." Keep in mind, this was before the Ford Explorer. The Bronco II was big enough for a family, rode great, and was good for off-road use. I drove mine for several years and really enjoyed it. I have had my Ford Bronco Sport FE since 1/7/2021 and have a similar love for the vehicle. There is a lot of the same "vibe" with the Bronco Sport I had with the Bronco II.

This is my new BSFE; below is a photo of a 1984 Bronco II very similar to mine.

When I posted the MotorWeek review I was hoping for nostalgia of the Bronco II. I guess I got it. I only kept my Bronco II till 86, and purchased a 86 1/2 Toyota Supra. But after the Supra, purchased several Explorers, and a lot of F 150's. I guess Im a Ford-a-holic.
