As far as I know the 1" height difference is from the 18" wheel and tire on the Badlands, as compared to the 17" wheel. There is no 1" suspension lift on the BS.

The badlands comes with 17s. It uses a higher rate spring to give it the lift over the other models. And the total tire height on the factory 17” is same as the factory 18” with the standard tires.

The Badlands come with 17" wheels. For off-road use you want smaller diameter wheels to increase the height of the tire sidewall. Taller tires provide more protection for the wheels.
The height difference between the Badlands and other models is due mainly to taller springs. If you select the Falken Wildpeak AT3W tire option you get bit more height.

it is a Badlands. It is 1in higher than the other trims due to a taller suspension. IF you get the bigger tires, not wheels, you get another 1/4 in.
I’ve had both an OB with 18s and my Badlands. On top of that, I read all the info on fords site.

The OB actually is the one with the 18" wheels. The badlands has 17" wheels same as base and BB but does have a 1" factory suspension lift
