I’m going to put winter tires (Blizzaks) on my Badlands when the time comes. I want to avoid damaging the OEM rims.

Can I trust any of the national tire chains to not damage the rims? Some of the videos on YT don’t inspire confidence.

Perhaps it’s best to let my Ford dealer do it?

Or is it ultimately best to buy rims for winter use? If so, can any of you guys recommend a good option for the Badlands (with standard wheel option).

Thanks

Why not opt for an all terrain tire?
I’ve heard good reviews of the ko2 and wildpeaks in the snow.
I had America’s tire install the wild peaks on the OEM rims with zero issue. My local America’s tire kicks ass.

If national tire shops were consistently damaging wheels installing tires, they wouldn’t be in business for long. Your Ford dealer probably does 1/10 or less of the tire sales as just one store of the big chains. I would trust one of the chains before the dealership. Yes bad things happen but it’s not the norm.

I’m planning on putting my winter tires on the factory rims and get some nice new rims for summer use with the factory tires.

Thanks for the replies.

Using Falken Wildpeaks all year round would be a lot easier.

Would I likely see a reduction in fuel economy compared to the the Scorpions?

Also, how good would they really be compared to a dedicated winter tire?

It will depend on where you are at. I’m in Wisconsin too, but have lived up north my entire life. Once they outlawed studded tires, I stopped switching. But, I know many people swear by them. They have softer compounds, bigger blocking and sometimes imbedded material for grip. For me, I just learned how to deal with it but every situation is different. The Wildpeaks seem great IMO. Many of the same attributes as a winter tire. I’ve gotten by on much less though.

Remember most tire shops have a kid mounting your tires. Even big shops. The BL wheels are 1200 a piece from Ford lol. Had wheel shop mark up mine. Is about 150-250 per wheel to get repaired depending on the damage
