Hey now, I have 5% tint all the way around, that I’m not going to part with. I have purchased 2 5” Black Series Rough Country mini LED light bars. I’m curious what my options are for wiring. Ideally I’d like to mount to my roof basket and run the wires directly into the rear liftgate weather stripping. I’m not an electric/wiring guy really, but I’m plenty mechanically inclined.
My question is, can I tap directly into the reverse light wiring at the tail light harness. Will that allow the lights to turn on without a switch when I shift into reverse. Do I have an option to have multi control over the light, when I switch into reverse or when I flip the switch. What kind of options am I looking at. The wiring harness doesn’t really allow for getting power under the hood, and I’m not dropping the headliner to run the wires anyway. Any advice will be appreciated. Pic for attention.

I do not have a hitch so the hitch LED option is off the table. The wiring harness that came with the light bars isn’t really long enough to accomplish what I’m after. I’d like the he extra light for reversing due to the dark tint. I would like it if I could use them both as trail/camping lights, and reverse lights.

If it were me, and I wanted the lights mounted on the basket frame, I would mount them and run a conducted wire along the inside of the basket to your roof light and follow the wiring for that. I would utilize a switch box so I had separate control over the light. I do use an AuxBeam light control box and love it. If you have trouble with running the wire(s) through or around the passenger compartment, use a KC windshield conduit......very easy and helpful and all available on Amazon. Good luck!

i had this in my past jeep, you can add a seperate switch to also turn on lights. essentially you run power to both need to protect power from running backwards using a diode or another method

It’s a rectifier diode. I used one on my ST for light bar switching I have a main rocker switch that can stay on and I spliced into one of the high beam power wires to signal the relay to also turn on light bars with high beams. The rectifier acts like a one way check valve for power so when I use rocker switch the one high beam doesn’t also turn on.
