Hey everybody...has anyone had issues with Apple Carplay suddenly not functioning? Was fine until yesterday, now, it will not load the carplay interface.
I tried a separate cable, and no change - it will populate the carplay setup screen, but will never, ever, ever show the carplay interface.

Everything worked just fine a couple days ago, and then just stopped. This has always been an intermittant issue on every Sync 3 vehicle I have owned, but it has never been an unresolvable issue.

I tried removing all bluetooth devices and adding them back, no luck.

I even triend a wireless adaptor, which doesn't work at all, connects via bluetooth, connects via wifi, I disconnected from my other wifi networks on my phone, leaving the wireless CarPlay the only device, and still no luck. It just leaves its own screen, and never shows the carplay interface. If I tap the "CarPlay" or the "maps" button, it will just go to the screen asking me to connect the wireless bluetooth, and never actually connects, or shows the car play interface.
Attached is a link to the adaptor, and screenshots of what I am experiancing.

Can you tell us what Build of SYNC 3.4 you currently have installed?

What version of iOS are you running on your iPhone?

No CarPlay issues for me. My iPhone is on iOS 18.2.1 (so being on latest iOS is a good idea), I scrolled thru all your posts quickly and did not see the Sync 3.4 version you are on. I might have missed but can you please provide that info?

To find your Sync 3.4 Build Version (do not scan for updates):

Select SETTINGS tab, then
Select GENERAL tab, then
Select ABOUT SYNC tab

It will show the Build Version (latest is 23188 Product).

if needed:

First step is to manually update to the latest Sync software:

SYNC 3, Software Version: 3.4 Build 23188 PRODUCT (or later version if available)

Follow Fords instructions at this link to download to your own USB Device then install Sync in your vehicle.

https://www.ford.com/support/sync-maps-updates/

A direct link to the PDF instructions is here: https://www.broncosportforum.com/forum/threads/sync-map-download.12742/post-211555

iPhone specific section:

Make sure your iPhone is on the latest IOS.

You can try deleting your iPhone off of Sync using Settings on the 8” Display, remove the vehicle from the iPhones Settings (Settings -> CarPlay), then add your iPhone back to Sync and re-set up CarPlay.

Well, I updated my IOS software, and that seemed to fix this issue. It was the phone, not the car.

I’ve tried two cheap wireless CarPlay adapters that got good reviews, and both worked great on the Bronco Sport. I moved one to my F-150 and another to my girlfriend’s Malibu. Still work perfectly. I bought another for my Bronco. ~$50 each.

I have an Ottocast Air 2 Pro in both my 350Z and the Bronco Sport and these work most of the time but not always. When it gets too bad, I do a reset on the Ottocast and it starts working again. The Porsche has built in wireless which always seems to work.

Care to share which one you bought?

I tried using a very short USB cable on mine and never could get it to work. I tried several brands. Looks like 14 inches or so is minimum length you can use. So check that. If you have a wireless adapter and that is not working, do a reset on it and then reconnect your phones.

Sure, sorry for the delay…

The second one was cheaper, works well, and is easier to hide.
Since my BB doesn't have Nav, I'm constantly having to fiddle with a cable to connect to Google Maps (my preference anyway) I still find it hard to believe that in 2025, my iPhone would even need something like this but, it is what it is. Thank you for providing this information.

I use this cable. It's perfect for setting my phone in the cubby under the screen. Works perfectly.

USB-C cable

This cable works well with any phone with the USB-C connection and for home or business use the 60 watt capability might be useful if you need that now or in the future. About $7 for 2 6.6’ cables. The right angle connects nicely into the USB-C port in the ‘21-‘24 Bronco Sports below the 8” Display (I haven’t looked to see if the right angle is useful in a 2025).

1.5' USB C to 90 USB C cable. Plug straight end into cubby USB port. Plug 90 end into phone port. Put phone in mesh pocket on right side of console. Leaves the cubby wide open for whatever you want to put in it, and the cable isn't draped all over everything. Neat and tidy.
