Like to pull off the felt and add a real full length skid plate so I can drag its belly. Anyone make one or do I do it myself?

thanks

Yes!!! Thank you!! Exactly what I’m looking for……$450….man, that’ll be $1000 Canadian by the time it gets here?

I’ll see if I can get ideas and fabricate my own I guess. Attachment points is what I’m looking at. If I have to drill… I’ll have to hide it from the wife????

I watched the video so I could see where it was attached. Got some ideas but I’ll have to look again later, when the guy said “drill some holes in the pinch weld” the wife looked up and I had to shut it off???
She said “tell me that’s mustang stuff and not bronco sport stuff”
I just grinned and wouldn’t answer.??

Ok, update, pulled the felt off underneath and started measuring. Turns out I forgot there is a skid plate on the body control module and I just need to make a skid plate for the evap valve and hoses.
So, I’ll get the camera out tomorrow and start documenting. I have a welder and 1/8th and 1/4” plate. We’ll see how it turns out??

Curious .. approximately how high up from ground level is that body control module and are there any visible connectors that those and the BCM would get submerged while crossing thru water? I don’t recall anyone mentioning a BCM mounted in the area you are referring to.

OK...I'm a dummy. Once I got it up on stands, it's not a BCM or PCM, under the skid plate is my evap canister:rolleyes:
So, wife said we're leaving Thursday instead of Friday so I had to design, fab and install a skid plate in about 5hr's.
Here's the felt panel from under the drivers side. Notice the aluminum sign that I used to repair it the last time the wife tore it off on a rock.

Then I fabed up some brackets to drop the plate low enough to cover the evap solenoid.Painted it...huh, just noticed I never took a picture of the other one.

Mounted them under the vehicle. I bought the j nuts and bolts from ford to make it easier to install/remove. Also note that the wire is held by two push tabs, had to drill holes in the mount to reattach them.

Here's the skid plate being reinstalled for the 20th time!
And a picture of it installed. Note I used black, allen headed bolts to blend in better. Thought it would look stupid with four shiny bolts in the middle of the rocker, lol.

Here it is installed. It was raining as well..quick picture.
I did measure clearance though. The lowest point was the front cross member at 10". I measured under the skid plate because it looks like it's hanging down quite far..but, 10" under it too!!:whew:

As a side note, I clipped the plastic and drilled 4 holes in the pinch welded seam of the rocker like I saw them do in a video for jcr offroad or whoever it was. Went through 3 bits drilling 4 holes!!! I don't know what metal this thing is made of but my back is killing me! Very VERY hard metal, used drill/taping fluid and everything, just a miserable job and the biggest pain of the whole thing!!
I'll be doing the mud run this weekend and making a video of that. When I get home though there is more mods I want to do to it and I'll document that as well.

Oh, also forgot to take a picture of the aluminum skid plate I made to replace the tin "heat shield" thing near the exhaust. I might even put the original tin cover over my skid plate to make it look factory. Pic's for that to come later too.

Next....hmmm....rock sliders or snorkel..... Have to decide when I get back home I guess.

Wow. Stainless is notoriously hard to drill, but I would be very surprise if they used stainless for that.

No, it's not stainless, but whatever it is, it's damn hard. I remember when ford trucks started using ...crap I forget the name of the metal, boron or something like that maybe? Anyway, new (at the time) ford truck in an accident, they pull out the shears to cut the a and b pillars to remove the roof.....the jaws of life won't cut!??? They tried several times and it turns out ford started using a super hard metal for rollover protection and the then current jaws wouldn't touch it. Had to get all new jaws, different clamp ratios etc.
Anyway, hard as hell and that was just a rocker.? Maybe it's got built in "rock sliders"?? ??
