I don't know the story behind it but it still had a Dealer Paper Tag attached to the rear advertising the Dealership.

Yeah take a look at the Copart site and you'll be surprised what kind of wrecks you'll discover... I've seen totaled out high dollar premium vehicles/exotic sports cars with less than 20 miles on them.

I'm like "What did these people do? Crash them on the way home from the dealership?"

I'm not talking about in transit to the dealer damage either... I'm talking about wrapping the car around a telephone pole type damage.
