YMMV based on the dealership and who you speak to.

I had some dealers that were very communicative and were feeding me the right information. Some other seemed unorganized and just desperate to make a sale (I told them I am not interested in anything other than a BL and they would try to sell me a BB).

I thought I had first dibs on a dealer ordered car at a different dealer than I ended up buying from, but the sales contact wasn't very clear in what I needed to do to secure the car and someone else ended up coming in and getting it before me.

I disagree. They sell a product. It's their job to know what is going on with the product. And there is no reason to jerk around their customers like this. I'd get a refund and flush the dealership. ?
That is TRUE! After speaking with them again today (after 2 weeks) when I was originally told that the build date for the one THEY ordered was March 8th, I asked for the VIN so I could track on my end. He told me there was never a build date for March 8th and that it is scheduled to be built May 10th. WELL I didn't just pull March 8th out of my ass??

I had a very similar issue. Have been told a couple of times that one was available for sale on the lot now, only to find that it wasn't. Decided to order, put down my deposit only to find 17 days later that they hadn't entered the order into the system! I had sent texts and made phone calls during those 17 days that were just "brushed off". So, so aggravating!
YUP! Pretty sure my order was never put in. Especially because when I first spoke with them 3 weeks later he told me he couldn't find it. Then just MAGICALLY he found it 2 hours later? I'm sure if they forgot to actually order it they would never tell me. But DAMN it's been 5 weeks in 2ish days and I have NOTHING not even an order confirmation? Feeling like I am definitely being played. No one wants to talk to me or give me updates. Every time I call or send an email to my sales person it's like be patient. Well I am being patient that isn't the issue here. They also can't even give me an order number? It's like I've waited 5 weeks, so it's hard to go and demand a refund after 5 long weeks. There are none even ordered near me within 100 miles of what I want. Sorry it happened to you too!!!

Based on what you've told us, are you sure you even have an order placed through that dealership? You haven't received a confirmation email or anything?

Maybe you can contact Ford directly. I know there's a "chat" option on the Ford website. I think there's also a statewide Ford Rep. If you could somehow find out who that is, I'd try contacting them. There's no excuse for them not answering your questions.

Who knows. They told me that they received a confirmation and aren't sure why I didn't. When I spoke to the manager, he told me that my email was correct and that it was added and they had theirs on there as well.

Can we do this with just my name and no order number lol because I can't seem to get that from them.

I'm in same situation as others on this thread. Got the Ford email several weeks after my supposed order, but nothing further and no info from dealer. Ford Marketing says no record of my order.

I'm glad my dealership doesn't play those b.s. games! I have bought a crazy amount of new Fords over my lifetime. And have a great relationship with them.

I have just spent about 2 weeks trying to find my Bronco Sport Big Bend in the exact features I want. I realized quite quickly that the cars you find on autotrader and on dealer websites - 90% of them are orders that a customer has placed and they don't exist on the lot. Probably 50% aren't even in production yet. Dealer websites say "36 Bronco Sports available!" Wow! If you go to the dealership - they will have 2 on the lot and they won't have the features you want. Finding a BL in person? Not gonna happen. They want you to call - they want you to stop by- they want you to visit. Now you've wasted a trip and the salesperson knows it- "Well- this model has the same features as the one you are looking for without x, y, z- let's give it a test drive!" "You love it after the test drive huh? What can we do to get you into that car today?" I ran into the issues many of you have where the car I was interested in actually wasn't available or was a showroom/courtesy vehicle. Once I figured this out I actually used it in my advantage to find a dealer and salesman that was knowledgable about the process and the order system. I called probably 6 different dealerships about a specific car they had listed that I would have bought right then and there. The one I inquired about that eventually helped me find my BS was a new order by the dealer and was not yet in production. When I told the salesman that he instantly wanted to work to find me better options. He kind of looked at it as a challenge- and it paid off for him as he got/will get the sale.

Every time I called about a car this was my first discussion- a lot of salespeople don't want to work with buyers who are extremely informed about their car purchase and know exactly what they want.

"Is this on your lot? If it is, I'm ready to purchase today. If it's not on your lot, I need to know if it's a dealer order or a customer order. If it's a dealer order, I need to know it's for sale, not a display/showroom/courtesy model. If it's for sale, I need to know the timeframe of delivery and have evidence sent over with VIN and current status of the car. If you're willing to work with me on all these things I am ready to get started on finding a bronco sport to purchase"

We were actually able to locate a vehicle that is currently in production, ordered by a partner dealer and I placed a deposit on it. He spent 2 hours with me finding available options that were already in transit or in production as I can't really wait the 12-15 weeks for a new order (I didn't know this sooner or I would have placed my order in January!) My approach to finding the right guy may not be for everyone but it definitely worked and put me in the Bronco Sport I want without having to place an order. He has been contacting me every day with updates and asking if there is anything I need. They had a customer refuse a delivery yesterday and he even called me to ask if I was interested- but it was the wrong color and didn't have a couple features. Keep digging - you can find what you want/need from a dealership and salesperson!

That was pretty much my exact same experience. One dealer tried to find a match, couldn’t, so I ordered through them.

Me and my wife did a build and price couple months back and search inventor to see a match "in transit". But dealer said they would not be able to sell it cause it was demo. Waited a couple more months. lurked around here. Couple days ago decided to order BL with BL package and a bunch of other options from local dealer and wait. I have confirm email from Ford saying order placed. Dealer says no way to know when it will come. My expectations is the wait will be very long. I am prepared for the ongoing delays, changing dates, and unknown deliveries etc....
