Honestly, they cut so much out of the '22, I would have a hard time showing someone my '21 and then recommending the purchase. I would tell them to find a '21. They're not all important things but they are stacking up lots of little cuts to everything except the price!
Our '22 Badlands just arrived at the dealership but it's going to be a few days until we can pick it up. I'm anxious to get it, but also wondering what will be there or missing compared to our '21 Badlands. ...at least I know it has an engine cover. Or it's supposed to have one.

Did you trade the '21 or you're adding another? If they're similarly optioned, it would be an interesting dive to find all the differences. Depending on what month your '21 was built, there will also be different power ports installed. I wonder if the sync screen and options will even be the same?

But I bet you're missing the engine cover. I think the date for this thread is just the official date of the TSB. People have already talked about the '22 2.0 not having covers.

Adding another Bronco Sport to the family. Our '21 is a Badlands + Badlands (Premium) package, 360+ and tow in Alto Blue. Manufactured April '21, we picked it up first week of may. The '21 is a Badlands + Premium, 360+, tow and had to add the moonroof as a separate option this time around. Both also have the upgraded 235/65-17 Falken Wildpeak AT3W tires. So they're intended to be as identical as we could make them other than paint color.

New one is Bronze Smoke exterior, which I'm not all that excited about after seeing pictures of it. We ordered before anyone knew what the color would look like. It will be OK, but wish they had kept the Kodiak Brown in the lineup instead, but I'm wishing I would have gone with A51 or Cactus now. The '22 Badlands said it was in production in December, then nothing until it was shipped a few weeks ago. So it will probably have a January manufacture date, possibly still December.

It will be interesting to compare them side by side. Overall I'm expecting it to be the same, but just a few minor changes. The new one gains the USB ports in the 2nd row and most everything else should be functionally equivalent. Not sure about the engine cover and some other things that seem to be mentioned with the notice for February 1st. But I think like you say some vehicles are already missing these things or have the changes, depending on parts availability at time of production.

Strip your 21 of all the ‘rare’ parts before you trade it in. Or better yet when it’s time to sign that dotted line make the dealer move the 2021 exotic bits to your 2022.
Just tell them your simply trying to get one complete car out of the 21 and the 22.

Honestly, I’m more upset (well, not really upset) about the lighted dials. I’m as old as dirt so I’m used to much less in a vehicle. I’d just like to get it while they still let me drive!

I’m just planning to drive mine with the hood down. I don’t think anyone will know the difference. Just one less thing to remove when fixing the vehicle. Seems like they are doing me a favor. Is there something special that this does that I am missing?
What you are missing is this. When working on your engine in an area that doesn’t require the removal of the cover it gives you a place to set your beer or coffee. So obvious.

I got my 22 Badlands right before Christmas and it has no engine cover. I doubt yours will have one.

I’m just happy to have my Bronco. Looks like I got in a thin window of time when they had chips. I only had to wait 7 months, lol.

There you go, an aftermarket opportunity. Someone needs to make them with cupholders molded in. I'd be a taker since my '22 Badlands doesn't have one.

Very much like mine then, built 4/14/21. Even the pushbutton start was subsequently changed. No lights and a fatter font. Should be functionally equal though, yes.

I think the Smoke Bronze is a very good color to add. I think it will show less dirt than the Kodiak too. Hopefully it grows on you. Did you go with black or grey roof? Not sure which pairs better with it, probably black but IDK.

So far the dirt-hiding ability of the Bronze Smoke color seems to be it's biggest advantage. We owned a Kodiak Brown Explorer a few years back and really liked the color. Love the Alto Blue, but it's a chore to keep it clean. I think what I like the least about pics/videos I've seen of the Bronze Smoke color is it's a bit lighter than I was envisioning, but it is a bronze/brown color. Not sure about the "smoke" part. I guess that's what happens when you order a color that at the time no one had seen just yet. Only reference we had to go off of was the CGI car in the build and price for the '22 Lincoln Aviator, which also comes in the color. Personally I think it matches the roast leather a bit too closely for my tastes, not that I don't like the roast leather, it just gives the whole vehicle a very monochromatic feel.

We kept with the black roof. I think the black upper roof/pillars will really help tone down the excess light-brownness. Who knows, many colors just look a whole lot better in person than any pictures and videos can ever portray. That's what I'm hoping for. ...Like Ford's Stone Grey color. Looks terrible and boring in every picture I've ever seen, but is in reality a nice titanium grayish/gold color that really pops in the right light or direct sun.

Hang in there Brother,
FULL ON autonomous drive is here NOW !
It’s just a matter of software development to appease the safety Gods .
In TEN years having a new car with a steering wheel will be as rare as having a horse and buggy is today……

Well, maybe my Bronco’s will be the last vehicles I buy then. I have no plans on letting someone else drive for me. Especially a computer.

You carry a computer now that listens to every word you and everyone around you says AND tracks every move you make even when powered off.
Just start talking to your friends about conspiracy or terrorists or revolution and your front page news on some spooks laptop.
And most everyone thinks everything they read on the net is truth,,,
It’s SKYNET. It became self aware two years ago.
.
