Yep, This is the TOP of my Bucket List for sure...........

Kick the start point to southern Ontario and that is our trip. If it comes together next year, we are going to do the trans lab highway in Labrador. Closer and shorter and potentially just as remote.

I love seeing this! We just got our badlands and have been rooftop tent camping in my tundra for years. I’d love to know what all was involved in being able to put your tent on top. I have Yakima heavy duty bars on my truck but wonder what I need to put on top of the spirt to support the weight of the tent plus the wife and I. Surely the stock bars and strong enough, are they?

stock bars should work.
a rough estimate of weight on top of our roof would be 175 lbs x2 + 120 rtt = 470ish lbs.

I want to drive the Dempster so badly I can almost taste it. It would be so much fun. Imagine - seeing the high Arctic and that ocean!

High off the ground you'd feel the commotion by the time it got to the tent. Gives you time to get your bear spray or pew pew.

Ground tent, your chances are much slimmer.

A ground tent your basically a chicken quesadilla, without salsa.
I agree I want to go to Alaska, in a Bronco Sport and not a Kawasaki KLR 650 and a ground tent. +1 for inflatable 2 person kayak.
