So with the 1” spacers on full lock it rubs slightly but it looks killer. I’m going to cut the pinch weld a touch about 5 inches up is all it needs. But what can I do to push the felt back and keep it there?

theres a post and someone by the name of FordBroncoLifts who has some pictures of the pinch weld cut and they cut a very small piece of the felt. Then put a screw into the felt to hold it into place. The screw was painted black afterwards.

I couldn't agree more with this. That flange is where two different parts of the structure come together to form the unibody frame. Without the welds holding them together it's no longer a "unibody," it's two separate parts. The different parts of a unibody frame rely on each other to provide strength for forces in different directions, but that only works if they are actually connected to each other. Without these welds the forces on one part cannot be transferred to the other. I'm afraid that eliminating these welds has compromised the structural integrity of the frame. How much and in what ways? Who knows?

If you never plan to take it off-road where the frame will experience significant bending and twisting forces you'll probably never notice the loss in structural rigidity. But then again, if you never plan to go off-road why do you need the ginormous tires?

Yep, yep I did. I did mean 235/70R17 - thanks for the catch, and it's been corrected. Confusing enough with all the tire sizes being discussed, my throwing out / typing a wrong size doesn't help.
