I had 3200 miles when my CEL came on after a "service and oil change" at my local dealer. After 4 resets and service days, my dealer called and said I "had a collision" and my repair would be between 800 and 1200 for a new "evap canister". They had already replaced the purge under warranty, but the light came back on. Well it seems the ONLY collison was the "lift" or hoist that they raised my car with. They had not adjusted the arms and the one arm went up into the canister. 800 bucks, which was refunded once if filed a complaint with the Attorney General's office. You could see the marks on the skid plate. So I got a refund and then the Dealer's Service Manager barred me from their property. Told he had the right to "refuse service" to anyone. I caught him in a falsehood, wrote to Ford and that didn't do any good. The Service Managers can do and decide what is and is not under warranty, so be careful, be cause FORD never did a thing for me. So since 5 K, I have basicly had no warranty since the nearest dealer is 4 hours from my home. By the way, you can DIY the purge valve in about 20 minutes, replace a evap canister in about 45 minutes and clear a filler tube in about 10, so DO NOT let them take advantage of you. Best of luck from a life long Ford driver from my 1960 T-bird through my Bronco. My family was a Ford Dealer back in the 60's and my current Ford will be my last. Lousy service by local dearer and no reaction from Ford.

Mam, I'm not sure what this response is supposed to mean, but if you came here, I imagine you are looking for help and guidance, and are HOPEFULLY trying not to pay exorbitant service fees, which may or may NOT be the possible case for you right now.

The first thing you have to figure out is if this an EVAP purge valve being stuck open. This is an EASY check for anyone who has a remote clue. If you don't hae a remote clue, then you need to speak with someone that does personally, or pay very close attention to what we are telling you. Up to you. Now, here is a video on how to check your purge valve being stuck open. I don't know if its a Ford, and I'm sure it isn't a Bronco Sport, but the concept reminas the same. There is a hose that runs to the valve (usually coming from the gas tank). The engine uses gas tank fumes at ignition in order to get the engine cranked and going. They come in throught that hose. Aftr the engine is running, it no longer needs these fumes, and that's where the "valve" comes in. The valve is supposed to close at idle. Essentially, disconnect the hose while your engine is running and hold your finger over the valve to see if you feel a vaccuum. If you feel a vaccuum the valve is stuck open, and essentially "BROKEN"

If the valve is stuck open, I don't have the part number handy, but its an easy find. And I can assure you, you can find it for less than $100 with taxes and shipping and everything.

If there is NO vaccuum while you hold your finger over the valve at idle, then there is a deeper problem going on and I would suggest for you to go to at least TWO service facilities for quote nad diagnostic.

So again. Up to you on whether you want to make your post here a simple "venting" session where you're just going to end up ponying up the money and comlaining about it the whole way. Orrrrrr... you can be proactive. Up to you.
Yes I do want to save money (as I am not made of it); I did find a thread that gave the location of the purge valve as well as the part # so today I will attempt to see if I can check the purge valve.

For your Badlands, can you please confirm these are the part numbers you found? Thanks!

Btw … some Badlands 2.0L owners have stated (on non bronco sport forum posts) that the purge valve by itself is fairly low cost but because of how the hoses are attached they decided to install the full assembly (price on that ranged from
$160 to $250 just for the assembly).

Purge Valve 2.0L part number: l
c1b1-9g866-aa b33tb

Full assembly 2.0L part number:
LX6Z-9D289-SH
