Apparently, somehow I scratched or damaged the back up camera lens , I think it’s actually an impact , as it’s not so much scratched as distorted , regardless Ford will not warranty we have had it less than a year and 10 k miles, how do I replace it ? Is it a simple as poping the outside cover off and unfastening it, unplug and replace ? Or do I need to remove inside hatch trim ?

I'm sure its not just a pry out situation. the camera will be fastened in place with screws or retainers. you have to start by removing the interior panels. its fairly simple. start with the top window piece, then the sides. the handles have covers that pop off and there's 2 small torx screws on each side. everything else just pulls straight out with a combination of metal and plastic body clips, like the first 3 pieces. just don't pull too hard on the big piece the wiring for the hatch lights have a connection to undo.

from there I'm guessing there's probably a few 10mm nuts holding on that hatch handle piece with the camera mounted to it somehow.

I'm guessing after swapping the camera it may need some calibration though.

its strange this is the second thread I've seen about a damaged rear camera lens.

Seems to be easy enough to access and replace. Attached are the instrucions on how to get to it from Ford's workshop manual. Once you replace it, there is a high chance the new camera will need to be calibrated. This can be done with FORScan.

How does one get hold of this wonderous workshop manual without having to get a yearly subscription?

Most people won't need yearly access. As long as I have access, I'll gladly provide whatever anybody needs. For anyone that needs to do a one-off repair, you can get the 3 day pass for $27 and get whatever you need. You can save other things jic you need them in the future, too.

Thanks to both of you.
I edited my original comment to link the correct year for you (2023 vice 2025) and to include the wiring diagrams as well. Cheers!
