I have a 2022 Bronco Sport and makes a loud brake noise when I put it in reverse. It seems to happen only if it is cold and before I start driving the truck aaround. The truck was just serviced and I had all green checks. I do not know much on vehicles, but I know new vehicles should not make loud noises.

There is a recall on that sound, check other threads that carry that information. Contact your dealership for that service!

Went to my local Ford Dealer to ask about the service letter regarding the brake noise when backing up. According to the mechanic assessment there is nothing wrong with the brakes. He said they make noise because it is cold. Well, I told the service rep that the brakes make noise when it is over 100 in the summer. My assessment was that it was a lazy mechanic who did not want to do all of the work.

There’s a tech bulletin for it. I had it done, but it still makes the noise. One of my biggest gripes with this car among other things.

Nothing is more embarrassing when you live in a neighborhood, and you’re trying to back out of the driveway, and everyone in the whole neighborhood can hear your car sounding like a dying whale.

Like my brakes are in good shape. Everything gets checked when I get my oil changes and tire rotations done. Why do they sound like the pads are gone and I’m on metal on metal?

Supposedly I read that there is a fix, but it’s gonna cost you. I read on Reddit that if you switch to ceramic brakes then you won’t have the noise ever again. I don’t think that’s fair for us the consumer to have to buy new brakes to fix Ford’s screw up when the brakes on the car currently are still in somewhat new condition. That should be Ford’s job to do that since they bought the original brakes and know they have this issue hence the tech bulletin. Just ridiculous to be honest.

There have been a couple of TSBs regarding the issue. The one I posted is the latest one. Which version was performed on your car? Another note on the problem: Ford and the Bronco Sport are not the only vehicles to have this issue. Cheers!

earlier in this feed someone sent a PDF file which I printed up and took it to Koons ford in Baltimore. They had the truck for a good while, because it took the part a very long time to get there. Well, when I picked the truck back up WHAT do you think I heard the next morning when I backed up? If you said that noise, then you are correct. I tried calling them, but because they are busy, I had to wait and wait. Then I gave up. The reason why the service person never called me back was because he was no longer with them. GGeezzz why couldn't someone have called and told me. Anyway, I have another continual issue the heat/AC blower, so I just added that on to the ticket.

Don't know where you live, but try going to a large empty parking lot. Put the BS in reverse get going fairly fast and SLAM the brakes 2 or 3 times to clean off the light sand and dust glazing. That will stop the squeal for several months until they need cleaned again. Like me you may drive more forward than backwards, so sand and with brake heat turns the dust to a fine directional glaze which has to be cleaned off. There are some over sized caliper pins that help, but Fords have had the problem since the 1970 T bird got the first Disc brakes. Give it a try. It will only cost your time. It is more common in winter months, more sand. Let me know if it works. Hit the brake many times to clean them. Mine really squeals after a car wash. Sounds like I ran over a pig. Lol. Rodger

Great. I hope it is a cure for you. In 1970 I worked for Ford and the T-Bird was the first with standard Disc Brakes. Well they would squeel if the car sat in the drive overnight after a drive home in light snow. Light melting snow caused more sand to be sent around the rotors, so when the direction of wear was changed in the morning by backing up, it would tell everyone to get out of the way. LOL Local mechanics would spray rotor/disc pad cleaner and end the noise for about 90 days. Charge of $50 and a smile. Same problem with the 71 Mustangs with the Disc option. Let me know, but I always tell family to visit Walmart and go behind the building. Gas it in reverse and hit the brakes several times. I has always been a temp but inexpensive cure. Good Luck and let me know. Rodger in NM

Tilli (my 21 BB) complains (groans) when I first back up and it cooler out. She stops, good enough for me
