Good thought, but I would think that kind of issue would generate a trouble code.
I'd like to think that a shutter that the OP reports happening would also have reported a trouble code based on post#13.

I'm not sure I understand this. In post #13 OP reports the problem abated after adding Lubegard Anti Shudder Fixx to his transmission. How would this result in a trouble code? My contention is that sensors monitor intake vacuum and an unexplained drop should trigger a trouble code.

Mark is correct.

There is no sensor that would indicate torque converter shudder. What MIL would be triggered?

I meant to indicate that the shudder he experienced DID NOT fire off a trouble code.

I'm surprised though that adding some additives to the transmission fluid fixed it. While I'm a defender in doing that periodically to replenish transmission fluid every, let's say 10k miles, it seemed he already had some wear/damage internally, and that auto transmission additives fixed it. I know that many never change or flush transmission fluid until the transmission starts to act up; too late IMO to add or replenish the old fluid.

Time will tell.

Transmission fluid can experience degradation over time. The torque converter uses transmission fluid to transfer torque from the engine flywheel to the transmission. When the fluid degrades, the friction properties can change how the torque converter transfers the torque creating the shudder.

The Lubegard product has highly concentrated friction modifiers that replenish the existing transmission fluid.
