And an inept dealer to boot 🙄

Our 2021 BB had its water pump replaced at just shy of 40k and ended up needing the coolant tank replaced too thanks to the dealer tech. We are now at 73k and I’ve had to top off the coolant to the point of half a gallon in about 15-20k miles in a system that only holds 2 gallons total. Dealer says “pressure tested OK” and “no codes present”. Second issue is the symptom of a torque converter failure, the RPM flutter on highway with cruise control set, but dealer is “unable to replicate” and “no codes present” again.

Dealer also sold me an extended warranty that is through First Extended which mandates I bring it to this specific dealer essentially - so I can’t bring the vehicle to my preferred tech at this point. So now I’ve been out without a vehicle in the home for a week and a half while the dealer keeps the vehicle trying to troubleshoot these issues that apparently elude them. Has anyone had to fight these repairs with their warranty and/or dealer that can share how you “won” against this mess? We are in no shape to trade the vehicle as we’d only end up in another Bronco Sport where the transmission seems to still be a wildcard for reliability.

trade in for a newer model 23' or 24' badlands if possible.
There’s a Badlands that is exactly what we were looking for that I believe is a 2023 but the transmission appears to be shared between models? Though you are right that the engine and RDU concerns would go away as well.

Also to update: got vehicle back from the dealer with coolant now slightly overfilled and transmission no longer fluttering in RPM - not sure what the issue is for the former but the latter looks like they may have pushed a PCM update as some other ForScan mods I did were wiped when the vehicle was returned to me.

I think the 8F35 Transmission is essentially the same across ‘21-‘25 (some updates along the way but I don’t know the specifics of the updates)

some owners have had issues with the transmission and/or it’s components

regarding your 2nd point (PCM update), your transmission might be now in its relearn cycle
