Certainly everybody has different tolerances, but the price increases, dealer mark-ups, and interest rates for those that finance are far bigger influences on affordability than whether or not one pays $142 for an engine cover, dash panel, and funnel.
If somebody is so concerned about a $5 funnel, an engine cover that virtually nobody will see (and that Ford considers so useless that they quit making it), and an under dash panel then, yeah, they can go buy them for less than it costs for me to fill up my F-350 one time.
Unless a BS owner...
Hmm, it's working for me. Maybe a cookie issue?
PS. There's a dealer nearby that has dozens of Broncos sitting on their lot, most with 300 - 5,000 miles. I'd hate to be sitting on that inventory right now.
As I read the post, my thought was how funny it was that so much time was spent on parts that could be had for $142. It all seemed so trivial to me.
Then you finished with the no longer a "Ford guy" and "declining culture of quality" stuff.
It was a bit of a twist to me... not what I expected...
It wasn't too bad. There are several screws to loosen the bottom bumper shroud (not remove, just get a little play) and then about a dozen push pins to slide your arm behind the wheel well liners and you can access a large nut on the back of the tow hook. Twist that off and then there are two...
UPDATE: The dealer had my BS for several days and after recharging the battery on a trickle charger overnight could never get the headlight fans to stay on. They've turned off ever since I got it back too.
My best guess is that draining the battery may have forced a reset of something and fixed...
I painted my towhooks to match the Badlands sticker color, but I don't think I got the color quite right.
I wanted to keep that yellow/orange with a gray undertone (to complement Cactus Gray) and not end up with a too-bright Primary Color look, but I think it's a little too yellow and not...
I picked up my BS BL on Thursday and when I started it Friday it said something on the screen like, "Turn on the Engine to Charge Battery"
I turned it on and we drove up the canyon to hang out and came back without a problem (28.8mpg!).
When I got home and parked her in the garage that night I...
My dealer texted me today and said my BS will be delivered this evening. Fourteen days from the shipped email to the dealer... not too bad! If all goes well, I can pick 'er up tomorrow
12/1 was my order date and hopefully 7/7 for delivery ??
Sometimes I wish we could all play Liam Neeson in Taken and just go kick in the door and enact a little Street Justice ?
I know two guys who came pretty close.
A client of mine paid a group of bikers $100 each to evict some squatters from his house when the laws in California were too onerous...
I got my Shipped email on 6/22. I asked the sales guy for a rail car today and got this response...
"No rail car number on the bronco but it arrived at junction point in Ferrocarril Mexicano"
Should I be concerned?
