I had an issue with the RDU shudder noise and had the fluid replaced. Then started to get some error messages about servicing the Advance Trac and 4WD system. Couldn't use any goat modes. The RDU motor actuator was faulty. There is a service bulletin and recall for that actuator on certain year...
I did have the same issue with only 20,000 KMS. They replace the fluid first and everything seemed fine for a couple of days. Then had issues such as no goat modes, and other aids disabled. They replaced the RDU motor since there is a Ford Service bulletin for this issue. Car now has 37,000 kms...
Thanks for your input @Trist0n . If you get a hold of a service manual that provides details and clears my doubts, please share it. I have the feeling that I might just get that steel crash bar from a 2025 bronco sport and replace mine. Would be expensive but it seems to be the only way to get...
Indeed but the 2025 big bend and outer banks have them at the bumper level which is on a different location when compared to the badlands, as you can note in the attached diagrams which raises an interesting question.
Hi everyone. I have been checking out the parts catalog for the 2025 bronco sport that now comes with the front tow hooks and was talking to my mechanic if it was something feasible to do with my 2022 Big bend. By the looks, it seems the new front tow hooks are attached to the front bumper...
Mine is at 23k km or about 18kmiles. Had the battery replaced due to initial failure (not AGM from factory) at 10k miles, software update for injector issue and drain hose installed at 8kmiles. Had the RDU shudder issue, so fluid and RDU actuator replaced under warranty at 12kmiles. Other than...

I have noticed that sometimes the gauge will oscillate especially when full. Like it will drop a bit after you do your trips. And when you turn on the car again it will display a different reading. I am guessing it might be the fuel buoy but noticed it happens when I park on a hill or steep angle.
Update: got the RDU motor replaced. Part arrived to the local dealer after 10 days of waiting. "knocking on wood" everything seems to have been sorted out. The DTC codes are gone and it seems the coupler noise is gone. A shout out to the local dealer who has been really helpful on solving the...

The shudder happens mostly when you roll slowly from a complete stop and do a hard left or right turn. It is the disks that are binding that causes the shudder.
My 2022 BB does something similar when I am on eco mode. Is if drive to slow and with a high gear, it will shudder when under no load. Just switch back to normal mode and give it some gas and your are good to go. It happens because of cylinder deactivation. The RDU shudder is something...
I did. They told me it was ok but I heard a light clunk this morning when I was slowing down. Not sure if it is the PTU engaging the RDU that is disabled or is it normal?
@Ford Motor Company I would like to know if it is ok for me to continue using my Bronco Sport, meanwhile I wait for the part to arrive to my local dealer for replacement. Will it damage my vehicle if I use it with the warning about the 4WD system disabled?
Good to know. At least in the US they do the recalls but in other countries it's more of a cross your fingers and pray or maybe they use more simple reliable engines. I think that the whole emissions thing in the US has reduced the reliability of certain engines due to so many recirculating and...
I am also on the same dilemma as you. Car is great, I love it but man too many reliability issues. in my case, the local dealer has honored the warranty and been really helpful on solving the issues under warranty. now I am waiting for the RDU actuator that is under TSB SSM51117 since it failed...
I think the big bend model with the part time awd system has only one motor or actuator. If yours has the dual clutch RDU, it could have two. Might need to check with your dealer which one it is. There is a TSB as stated earlier by Dude. SSM 51117. If yours is from that production date, you...
