I could tell you a similar story involving heavy duty trucks, but it's off topic and I won't. Aircraft manufacturers build redundancy into their craft, but like you said. If you put all your controls with one commonality and you lose that, you lose everything. And then we get into the issure...
The fly in the ointment is that auto manufacturers are doing this to cut costs, not to make the driving experience better. If the most common features are pinned across the top, a screen would be fine. But, it is not safe to be looking around in screens while driving in traffic.
A 25 MY is in my trade cycle and I'm also considering a Bronco or a Chevy Colorado ZR2. Chevy has pushed the 25 production to Dec,. I wouldn't be surprised if Ford does this, too. Nobody in Detroit works the end of the year, so likely it will be Jan. This is just a part of the upside down...
I always have my brake hold on. Enjoy it. If the engine dies, I gently press the gas pedal to restart. Just don't forget to take it off when you go to the car wash. :)
Agree. But it's a done deal at this point. Would you rather have a real skid plate or not? I would. And we haven't had a close look at this one. A silver or gray color might look better with it.
I like the skid plates and tow hooks, bigger screen. The brush guard looks like it would be pretty much useless in a collision with an animal or vehicle.
I wish they would offer 245's on the BL. No R&D expense, they just buy tires and mark them up. Most dealers or even Discount Tire won't...
I hadn't thought about the affect of this strategy on sold orders. I wonder if they will make an exception? Buying a vehicle is an emotonal purchase for many. When they are ready to pull the triger, they are ready! Having to wait another six weeks because Ford has a flawed...
I have no idea what their most common defects are, but we could start with water pumps, poorly designed fuel injectors, the BCM/PCM fiasco that we thought was batteries for two years. Brake noise. The whole point is that defects should be held to standards, rather than this reactive strategy...
Who knows? They will likely change a few colors in the upcoming mid-cycle refresh. Chevy has a similar color Sandstone metallic. I built a Colorado ZR2 online yesterday in this. Wheels have a bronze trim I I could get bronze tow hooks. 25MY is my trade cycle, but I'm pretty open to what I...
I've given some thought to my next vehicle and honestly I don't know what it will be. I'm not brand loyal, so lots of options. Recently I've been looking at Chevy Colorado ZR1 or ZR2. Think I'll go over to Chevy and build a couple.
This bui
Builld and hold isn't pro-active. Just the opposite, it's reactive. Pro-active would be to start with their design and engineering effort, production and quality control to see the defects don't occur. To me, this strategy just admits they are screwed up from start to finish in the...
Until I bought my 21 BL and then my current 23 BL I hadn't driven a Ford in decades. I guess I'm lucky, I haven't had to return either for service. Did the recent update with Mobil tech. But from experiences I see on here, service in Ford dealerships is poor, loaners almost non-existent...
Ford To Delay Refreshed Explorer, Bronco Sport, Maverick (fordauthority.com) This seems awfully expensive, but I guess better than putting out vehicles with flaws.
I had wondered what you could attach there and the door still open. Maybe you nailed it. Overall, looking like a pretty good mid-cycle refresh. I'm still wondering if there is a little more clearance.
Great narrative and photos! I've spent a lot of time in the Southwest and paranoid about fuel. I always top off every chance I get. That country can be unpredictable and unforgiving. Worked on the Navajo Rez when I was young and drove 60 mile commute on a dirt road.
