I have been tempted to just grab one off a lot but none have all the options I want. Besides, I know that if I grab one right now for driving I'll be kicking myself for years for not waiting for exactly what I want.
Patiently waiting for my new BS BB+BB. Learned more from this forum than I have from the dealers (visited several). I've hated the looks of my last three Escapes. Loved my original 2007 Escape. It's time to trade in my '18 and glad the Bronco Sport brings back the lines of the first Escapes...
and while I'm thinking about it. It would be great if Ford added a step on the the back seat door frame at seat height to stand on to access the roof rack.
I saw it coming...
Lawn mower-rock-Escape-grill-radiator. When it bounced in front of me at 55 mph I thought for sure it was going to hit me square in the face. It dropped at the last second.
I got lucky. Their homeowners paid for the damage.
That's why I would like to know how much room there is between the side edge of the glass and the rails.
Yakima says my current rack should fit just make sure the glass doesn't hit any attachments. I'll have to wait and see how much clearance there is for my canoe gunwale brackets. Yakima...
I'm guessing those numbers were just copied over from the Escape manual. My Escape has the panoramic roof. My guess is the Bronco Sport roof rails are actually rated higher. The Escape sunroof opened inside but when you just pop it open it only goes up about a half inch above the roof...
Driving my '18 Escape I'm trading in. Already agreed on the trade in $$. Dealer said he didn't care how many more miles I put on it. It will be sold the day I turn it in.
Same on my '18 Escape. Spacing is different front and rear. I marked my Yak towers so I know which crossbar goes on the front and rear. Will be moving rack to my Sport when it arrives so will have to respace everything. Rack goes on in the spring and doesn't come off till late fall.
I saw one at a dealer and actually liked it. It slid in and out with no problems. I keep a few things in the back and this will keep them out of sight. Especially when it's parked at trailheads and canoe launches. Having the two levels and having the top level folded back to half will be easier...
Years ago I had the choice of buying a new VW Rabbit from a brand new factory in PA or the same model imported from Germany $800 cheaper. The German one had bolted on doors, the PA car was spot welded. The German car had reclining seats, the PA version's were fixed, etc. Saved my self $800 and...
Yea, motorcycle trailers without motorcycles, Horse trailers without a horse... It really should have been 3,000 Lbs. 2,000 just isn't enough for most uses.
The most you can tow is 2200 lbs. (2000 with the 1.5 engine). You might find a lightweight pop up or small teardrop but the only reason to order a Sport with a hitch is to get a full size spare tire. Sadly it really wasn't meant to tow much more than a small utility trailer.
