Thanks, and no offense taken.
This will free up a bit of space, as others have noted, but the main reason is these pumps that hook straight into your battery can air up a lot faster than those that plug into a standard 12V outlet. Those outlets are fed with long lengths of small gauge wire so...
Happy to help! It's still so crazy to me that a car built in 2020+ doesn't have HomeLink, adding HomeLink aftermarket is generally insanely expensive, and these mirrors are basically dirt cheap. In fact, how cheap the Kia mirrors are makes how expensive aftermarket mirrors are even more insane...
@Mark S. took the plunge and figured out if you don't have an auto-dimming mirror, you will not have the connector behind the plastic cover. Check out his write-up.
Yeah I have no idea why they're so cheap, but I'm not complaining! What part number mirror did you order? And where'd you find one in stock?
Edit: I just saw Mark's thread where he said he ordered the same PN I did from World Kia Parts so I take it you did as well. I guess they got some more...
This seems like a pretty cool opportunity for those that can't make it to the Off-Roadeo. I'm kinda surprised this thread hasn't gotten more attention.
I considered going that route but wanted to keep the leads from the battery as short as possible. I might still go that route down the road because I'm not a fan of the engine bay heat. We shall see...
Thanks for sharing that PN, I had found some buy options but not any priced as low as the one you shared. Can you find the mating connector? I haven't been able to find one that isn't physically part of the OEM backup camera.
I'd be more concerned about doing damage by wailing on the strut with a hammer to bend the little lip back than I would simply grinding it down.
A handful of people installed the RC lift in the early days because it was the first to market (or maybe 2nd). Most of the people that reported...
Nice, you hooked him up! Was the connector up under the bed just above the edge of the spare? I've seen pics of F-150s with a connector there. That'd be great. It's a shame our connector is buried under trim and stuff. But it does make me wonder if there's another, more accessible connection...
I've been thinking about this a lot since my post above, because I feel the same way you do. I want to have a backup camera when I'm carrying a spare or my mountain bikes or whatever, but I want to use the factory screen.
I can't find anywhere to buy those connectors. I can find miscellaneous...
I don't think any of the Rig'd harnesses would work.
There's a photo in the rear camera washer DIY thread that shows the rear camera connector. It's a single row, six pin connector. You'd need a harness that matches the connector on the camera. All of the Rig'd harness connectors appear to be...
That was the first thing I disabled with FORScan. I'm SO happy that it's gone. I hope the engineer responsible for that "feature" has an itchy spot right in the middle of their back that they can't reach for the rest of their life.
I also wish it'd default to your last GOAT mode. Or let me select a default. And I agree with how rattle-y the interior has been from day one.
One thing that hasn't been mentioned (or maybe there's just something wrong with mine), my turn signals auto-cancel waaaaay too easily. They'll cancel...
Thanks, I'm pleased with it. While it's not in the Ford parts catalog it is manufactured by a Ford OEM. I removed a Gentex mirror and replaced it with a Gentex mirror. Though all I really care about is that it works and doesn't look out of place. For that reason, had I not stumbled upon the...
Yeah dealerships have been hit or miss, but yours is the first I've heard of outright refusing to sell one. I think junkyards are probably the best bet but require a lot of legwork. There are a ton of different mirror part number mirror with HomeLink, but figuring out which ones and where...
