Hard to say -- it was the kind of event where it spun around and kept running. Maybe it will be fine, or it might make it a little while before succumbing to its injuries. I've seen variations of both.
Were you wondering why I didn't talk about salvaging it? That is something you can do here...
It is visible once you know what you're looking for... It's a small black cylindrical nub in the rectangular portion formed by the thin slats. It is in the airflow path of the heat exchanger.
Try to get lower and look up towards the grill. Hope that helps!
What do we assume for driveline losses here? 20%? Anyhow, that is power measured at the wheels on their AWD dyno.
Catch that it is SAE J1349 too? I only know that spec exists to normalize comparisons, but don't know if it factors driveline losses.
*Big gains considering we are only talking about timing and fuel optimizations...with an eye toward safety and sustainability. Again, push boost levels for more...but that's a different goal.
Also note the smoother, flatter curves. The total area under the curve is substantial. That's a...
*I just re-read my post and will clarify...
Ha, right...I think we are trying to say the same thing. All good...
Anyhow, it isn't that they can't get more power. I'm glad this came up. It's about tuning philosophy and tapering power up top because it isn't all that accessible. Also, trying...
No, but I suspect it will be better annotated in their public release.
*It's easier to read when you already know the values, I agree. The dotted lines are TORQUE.
Torque is the bigger curve...
I agree and feel we are all mostly on the same page. For an enthusiast forum, the general vibe here is that most are quite conservative in their thoughts about performance tuning. That's fine...
I miss having higher quality gas around! When I lived in CA, I could get 100 octane from my local...
One other observation here is that the system "assumes the worst" from a logic perspective. When the sensor goes offline it registers as exceeding whatever the maximum ambient temperature threshold is (unknown to me). That makes sense from a safety perspective.
As a consequence, this could...
I’m not sure I follow, but my intent was just to share news that I discovered while investigating options for my tuning needs.
I agree the BSBB is nice, but some may want to tune their rigs for more power. It is nice to have more options, right?
Quick update: The external ambient temperature sensor is in the grill about midway between the "R" and "O" in the open slats.
Seems the impact broke the retaining clips loose but it otherwise works. I have a zip-tie on it for now.
*Note: That generates P0073 DTC. I was able to clear it...
Yes, that is about right. I really like it. The increase in low-end and mid-range torque is quite nice. I have shared more details on the tuning strategy in that thread (e.g. disabling basic traction control).
Adam offered a little more detail on the traction control strategy this morning. He said they don't cut spark the way it does in stock form. Apparently this is how Ford already does it, and 5Star Tuning simply removes the speed threshold for it to turn back on (just inhibiting the...
Hi all. I have been talking to the folks at 5Star and recently purchased and applied their 91 octane fuel map to my Badlands 2.0 EB. For reference, here's the link:
5Star Tuning Bronco Sport Badlands
Adam provided dyno charts and even shared the 1.5l EB charts -- very impressive!
Here you...
I like that logic. By extension, you could also run their 87 octane map on 93 octane fuel for even more safety margin.
That's one of the reasons I have the 87 octane map. It gives me options and you can see that even the 87 map gives very nice gains.
Overall, I really like their tuning...
Dyno charts!
Adam provided me both a 93 octane and an 87 octane chart.
This is backed up by my seat-of-the-pants impressions. You feel the increased surge of torque and HP after 3K in a very noticeable way.
He also shared the 1.5 EB dyno charts, so I'll share those soon as well.
93 Octane...
Does anyone know exactly where the external ambient temperature sensor is located? I took some minor front-end damage in a collision with a deer last night...
So far, the only real evidence of the encounter is a bit of fur on the bumper, a slight gap issue with the front passenger fender, one...
