I just looked. Paintscratch.com has a non-metal paint kit with all you need for $100.

Probably easy to do. As plastic, will want an automotive paint with a flex additive. I would try a rattle can from paintscratch.com.

I asked about it, too, at my dealership when my Escape was delivered. Salesman came out and said it's the microphone, as stated above.
