AFAIK, the 8F35 remains unchanged for 2025. There were some cooling changes (for the Maverick), but that's all I could find.

That being said, the 8F35 does have a replaceable internal sump filter (part JM5Z-7A098-A). While sometimes described as non-serviceable in standard maintenance, the filter can be replaced by removing the transmission pan during a fluid service.
ok I was just going by all the year listings for the filter. they all point to 2025 when you click at them and 2021-2024 have none. and there is no transmission pan on my trans, thats the whole issue, you have to split the actual case to service the internals, which means removing the trans from the vehicle.m AI told me to drop the pan also and I just laughed.

AI is useful for some things, car repair is not one of them. It’s just good enough to make you think it knows what it’s talking about but then hallucinates greatly.

I can’t argue with that. The SA said drop the pan and drain and replace the filter like normal transmission. So he must not have gotten the right information.
I wonder if it's that the SAs just don't know what is necessary on the BSs. One girl at my Quick Lane kept saying to replace the filter and that increased the price to $600ish. The other one said no, it's just a regular drain and fill and kept it around $250ish .

I've noticed every time I'm out driving around I see at least 2 Bronco or Bronco Sports. There's a lot of them out there but I'm sure most of them aren't getting their transmission fluid changed at 30k miles.

Likely as I’m not even sure they even offer a simple drain and fill option

They should, it’s the best, needs multiple drains however

Next time you might ask how the transmission fluid exchange is done assuming you can find an SA to check with the transmission Tech to give you an accurate answer

The SA’s are like AI tools, SAs often hallucinate

As a matter of fact , I was at dealer today for a past issue and asked that very question. He claimed it actually was a flush with a cleaner that gets run through not just simple fluid exchange machine. However, he was also unaware that the filter was basically non-serviceable and buried inside the case.

When I had mine done, they mentioned that flush and I told them I didn't want that but just wanted the drain and fill. I forget if the drain and fill was more or less than the flush but I don't think it was a big difference.

I would think the price would be about the same as the labor to hook up The equipment is the same and the only thing you wouldn’t be getting is the flush additive. I can assure you Ford is not going to refill via the vent tube as a DIY would.

ya if a trans shop uses a flush machien, just put it in reverse and drive away. thoes are the worst thing you could ever do.

and yes ford does a drain from the drain bolt, and a fill through the side level bolt they have to take out anyways, which is how you should be doing it in your driveway. a cheep 15 buck outboard motor leg oil pump makes it pretty easy to do. the ford dealership just has a fancy version of that.

You misspelled extortion. :D
I drained and filled my former Escape and it was really easy to do. I think it was not any risk at all, but I am a DIY guy. And I knew it was done right with the correct fluid.

I just completed mine at 67,080 miles (purchased at 47K). It could be placebo, but it feels noticeably smoother when shifting.

Spent $61.74 on 7 quarts of Mercon ULV + another $13.95 on a Lubegard additive for a total of $75.69. It took roughly 3 hours since I was taking my time and I saved $424.31 before tax, based on the dealership quote.

As you can tell by the color of the fluid, this was certainly due and I used all 7 quarts to flush out the old stuff.

One tip I have is to turn the engine on after 3 quarts. In my case, fluid started to dump out of the leveling plug at 3 quarts with the engine off. I started with a warm engine, but shut it off when removing the airbox and draining everything. I then plugged the air sensor back in and reattached the top half of the airbox before I started it again. When it is turned back on the fluid will stop dumping and at that point you can continue adding the remaining 1.5 to 2 quarts. I then cycled through the gears, and shut if off. After that, fluid will continue to dump out of the leveling plug after a second or two and once it has slowed to a drip, close up the leveling port, add a little more fluid, then button everything up and you're done.

I put 30 miles on it afterward and it performed great, I would have done more but at $6 a gallon, I wasn't wasting the gas. If there are any changes throughout the week, I'll update here.

If there are questions, feel free to ask.
