Sorry to bump the thread, but I'd like to add some data.

2022 1.5L, 38k miles, had my water pump diagnosed as leaking. Very, very slowly, but leaking. (Thank goodness I got scammed into the extended warranty!)
I've been having to barely top off the coolant every oil change since 30k and finally got it in for a pressure test.

I talked to a Ford tech who did my BCM recall and he told me he carries a jug of coolant to top off Bronco Sports on almost every call he does....

My suspicion is many people out in the world have slowly leaking water pumps. Please check yours if you're reading this! Mine leaked maybe 0.5qt every 3000 miles.

I found a step-by-step Youtube video for the water pump job.
It doesn't look like it's a hard fix.
However, I wouldn't want to be doing this every 30k miles...

Hi All,

New to the thread. I have a 2022 BS since December 2022 that now has 34,000mi. I brought it in for an oil change and was just today informed of it needing a second water pump. First one was at about 20,000mi.

I also read the TSB on contaminants in the coolant, but that sounds a bit odd considering the number of second and third failures cited.

Could the original coolant formulation be deteriorating the seal or gasket? That would make sense to being sensitive to flushing the entire system out and getting all the old coolant out. And then having issues because they didn't.

I just saw that a few people said that there won't be a water pump recall until there's a safety issue. . . well now we have one. And I'm guessing I'm not the first. Driving down the highway, AC turned to heat, multiple warnings on screen (engine overheating, features disabled, etc.), and my little Bronco STOPPED accelerating on the highway. I'm so lucky I didn't get hit! Turns out it was the water pump,. And it burned the belt right off. Mechanic said that it wasn't originally put on there strong enough or in a way that it would last (the heat pump). Local dealership said water pump issues are "common" with Bronco Sports, yet still no recall. I was stranded out of town and the Ford dealership service department said that they couldn't even look at it, let alone replace it, for at least a week because they were so busy. Had a licensed mechanic replace it. But because it was out of the regular warranty and the Ford Premium Extended warranty doesn't cover it, I'm out over $900. Sadly thinking of selling her, after all of the recalls and then this, I don't feel incredibly safe. And for all of you that are going to come back and say that all cars have recalls, yes, I'm very aware of this, but the 2021 Bronco Sport seems to have quite a few issues, and many are safety related. Sad because I just loved it at first.

Water pump is listed as a covered item on the Ford PremiumCare ESP. What was the reason you were told why it wasn't covered? You should call the plan directly (see below) and ask why it wasn't covered and possibly get a refund.

• All Internally Lubricated Engine Parts • Cylinder Block • Cylinder Heads • Diesel Fuel Injectors • Diesel Injector Lines. • Diesel Injector Pump • Diesel Lift Pump • Engine Mounts • Flywheel • Exhaust (Manifold and Bolts). • Flywheel Ring Gear • Fuel Tank and Metal Lines. • Gas Fuel Injectors • Gas Injector Lines. • Harmonic Balancer and Bolt. • Intake (Manifold and Bolts) • Oil Pan. • Oil Pump • PCM Module. • Radiator. • Radiator Fan (Clutch or Motor). • Seals and Gaskets • Thermostat • Thermostat Housing • Timing Chain Cover • Timing Chain (Gears or Belts)
•Turbocharger/Supercharger Unit
(Factory-Installed). • Valve Covers • Water Pump

Thanks so much for pulling this up, DWG. I talked to a few people, two with the warranty company, one at the Ford national number, and my local dealership. They said that they wouldn't cover it/reimburse because I didn't get it fixed at a Ford dealership. I would have, I tried, and I bought the part from a dealership, but I was stranded out of town and the dealership said that they couldn't get to it for at least a week, so I had a licensed mechanic do it so I could get out of town. One guy at the Ford ext warranty place said that that qualified as an emergency and that my local dealership could handle the paperwork for the reimbursement, but local dealership said that their hands were tied since I had someone else do it. Also weird because the mechanic that did it said that because he is licensed and all the things that it shouldn't be a problem, but in the end, my dealership and Ford said no

And the crazy frustrating thing is, one of them said that "for future reference" they would have paid for the hotel for me to be there over a week. First of all, I was not about to stay in this town for over a week at a hotel with no transportation, and second of all, the ironic thing is, the hotel would've cost more Than what the reimbursement for getting it fixed by the mechanic would have been.

Seems to me you were definitely in an emergency situation. Maybe elevate the issue on Ford's end and have them call the Dealer Service Dept Manager to tell them they should do the paperwork necessary for reimbursement. It is worth a try. If you have a copy of your warranty agreement maybe show it to the dealer where the terms tell you the selling dealer should do the paperwork. Sounds like the dealer is being lazy or doesn't understand the ESP Contract terms.

Thanks. That all makes sense, but I've already talked to Ford also. My dealership is actually great, but again, her hands are tied. It's Ford and also the Ford ext warranty company saying no.

We have 95k on our 2021. Water pump was replaced at 72k. It had been leaking since 40 but went undiagnosed. Part of the issue is the old ford coolant that was in the 2021. They ended up flushing the whole system. Replacing the drive belt (it was ruined by coolant) and putting the new water pump on. 0 issues for the last 20,000 plus miles. 0 coolant level change. These vehicles need to be maintained on a tighter interval than ford recommends to not have any issues.
Oil changes: at 5k
Transmission, rdu, and ptu fluid changes at 50k and you will have no issues.

I read the dealer work and they stated in the work they flushed the system.
Also, looks like there was a new Ford part number update to the water pump. I now have a -C rev.

Here's to hoping third time is the charm!!

Can you please post the entire RevC part #

Would be great news for ‘21-‘24 1.5L owners if the -C part fixes the water pump issues
