Fingers Crossed. Had the RDU replaced at dealership last week. After contacting Ford Corp., they offered to pay $1000 of the $2500 quote. Had no choice but to accept. Couple days later, same Ford Rep called and said I only had to cover $387 of the repair. IDK why, but I was pretty happy about that. She said after some more research, she concluded that I had first stated the problem while it was still under warranty and they did the Quick fix of changing the fluid. All sounds too good to be true.

I just had mine replaced this week. I took it in on a Saturday to get it diagnosed, even though I already knew the problem. They called same day and said it needed a new RDU and was under warranty (55k miles). Gave me the car back and parts came in, in a week. Took bronco back and they called after couple of hours to tell me the new parts came in broken, problem was my bronco was already disassembled! Had to be without a car for a week. Got parts in and repaired. Got a couple free oil changes out of it too. We'll see how it holds up.

My 2021 Outer Banks had the RDU and PTU replaced today due to the shutter noise when turning. The diagnosis - PTU was locking up with the RDU. After replacing those components, the tech said the AWD control needs to be replaced. It has an internal fault and they can’t program it. The AWD control isn’t covered under the powertrain warranty. Has anyone else had to replace the AWD control after an RDU replacement?

I had to have the AWD/4WD module replaced in my Badlands, it had a 4WD fault. The initial diagnosis had the replacement cost a little over $800 dollars, I was just outside the 3yr/36k warranty by 4 months but not by mileage and as you know the module is not covered by the powertrain warranty because its an electrical part.
in the end Ford cut a deal due to the fact the vehicle was always dealer serviced and they cut the cost to less than $200 dollars.

Interesting to hear yours had a fault. Mine has not had one. It’s been driven for three months since the noise started waiting for an appointment and then parts and no dashboard alerts. I asked the dealer if there were codes and was told no. Called Ford and waiting for their review.
