I've been noodling the idea of getting into some lightweight welding around the house. Nothing significant, mostly light fab (tables/benches/stands), and possibly have a crack at stuff for the BS, maybe a replacement for the factory brush guard.

I've been looking at one from Vevor and coincidentally enough came across a YT vid from John Cadogan (my favorite Aussie car guy) from a year ago and it's the same one I was looking at.

Any thoughts from the home welders out there, on either the welder in particular or the hobby in general?

For just doing a few things on occasion, most economy welders are fine. You just need to make sure it has enough power to handle the thicknesses you are expecting. I do not have any familiarity with the Vevor. My experience has been with Miller and Lincoln but at a professional level. There it’s more about duty cycle which shouldn’t be your concern. We typically used TIG for welding thin stainless steel parts.

I have a small mig tig stick welder, 110 up to 20amps I use flux core wire mostly. I have made a welding table and a cart, bike stands as well as fixed stuff around the house. I always use the 20 amp plug.
At that price its worth a try because you will spend much more on accessories. One thing to look at is the wire feed mechanism, you want metal because things get hot. Also stuff like fire extinguishers and fire proof gear.
