So, on May 21st, 2025, my wife's BSBB died while we were running errands. I used a jump pack we keep in the car, got it started, and made another stop. Battery was dead again. Jumped again and stopped by a local shop to check the battery. Battery is bad so we get a new AGM battery installed for $270.
Fast forward to August. We get a recall reminder dated August 2025 for a defective battery.
Today we take the BS in for the PCM recall, oil change/tire rotation, and to see if Ford will help reimburse the cost of the battery we just purchased 3 1/2 months ago. The dealership was great about everything and said they would submit it to Ford.
My wife gets a call from the service advisor to update her on the status of her BS. She was informed that since the recall came out in April of 2025, less than one month before the battery died and was replaced, that Ford will not reimburse the cost due to the battery being replaced by an independent shop AFTER the recall was announced.
We never received a recall notice prior to the battery going bad and the battery was replaced with an equivalent to the ford battery. Had we known, we would have gone to the Ford dealership and had it taken care of at no cost.
And to add the icing on the cake, the dealership further stated that they cannot clear the recall on the BS unless they replace the new battery we just paid for, with another new Ford battery.
So I guess I said all of this to say that if your battery dies, go straight to your dealership and save $270.
