Has anyone replaced the front fender either at a shop or on their own? How much did it cost you? Had a little mishap and trying to weigh my options here. I have a couple appointments at 2 body shops on Monday for estimates, but I think the only part that needs replaced is this fender. You can buy pre-painted OEM and aftermarket fenders online for not too much money. If that's it, and it's possible to get the fender off easily, I'd just assume to try and replace it myself. After you get the front end off how hard is it to get the fender off?

Looks like that fascia piece below the headlights got it, too.

The big issue is going to be what you don't see: attachment points behind the fender in particular may have been bent/torn. There also may be electronics involved if you've got any front sensors, or simply a wiring loom run through that area.

You've got 3-year old paint, the pre-painted OEM won't properly color match. While it can be color corrected, it may be simpler for a good body shop to do it from scratch. Their advice on which way to go should be heeded.

I'd stay a long way away from non-OEM aftermarket body panels, unless they're actually the Ford supplier selling them directly. There's no assurance of dimensional accuracy, plus the quality of the stamping would be in doubt. I'm not even sure what aftermarket suppliers there are for entire body panels for commodity vehicles.

From what I can tell from looking at it closely and pulling some plastic back on the outside, and from inside the engine bay its just that one spot that crunched in. No connections inside look bent, and nothing appears off when I look inside this one and my wifes. We have 2 of them so it's easy to see what it should look like. I don't care about the scratches on the little trim part.

I'd say $2500 to $5000 depending on how "good" you want it to look.

First 2 quotes are $2000 and $2600. Going to speak with one more shop this afternoon.

That should be accessible from behind the wheel well liner to possibly hammer out without replacing the fender.

Are your estimates replacing the fender and painting or just body work needed?

$2600 is to replace the fender and fender flare. Repair everything else. Paint the fender and blend the paint into the door and hood.

I can't get to the dent without at least dropping the front off. There's not enough room to get enough leverage to attempt to hammer the dent out. I've tried a bunch of ways and various items leveraged against it.

Depending on the labor rate and the amount of hours for repair and parts, cost is probably not out of line in this day and age.

Insurance or out of pocket for the repair?

I'm going to pay out of pocket. If I file I'm sure my rates will get raised or charged a surcharge over the next 3 years that will cost me more than the cost of the repair minus my deductible.
