If it's just a crack you can use a little clear UV curable resin to cover/seal it up. Works great.

I don't understand the Escape thing either. I'm guessing that its replacement will be a hybrid or PHEV of some kind or, maybe even a full electric. From what little I've read, it won't look like today's Escape. Perhaps they'll get the rear seats to slide in the BS like its current platform...
