As the title says, my 2 year old pup is less then cooperative getting into the new truck. We've tried front Seat, back seat (even with the passenger seat moved forward for additional room to get in), and trunk.

Not sure what it is but he refuses to get in. We had a 4 door jeep prior and he had no issues getting in and we also have a ford fusion he still willingly goes in.

Any advice, tips or tricks to help would be VERY appreciated because we really enjoy taking him along on our adventures. Thanks a lot!

I have a Pyrenees and she was a little reluctant at first. It was weird because my Jeep was higher and had less room but she would hop in there no problem. In the Bronco put the seats down so she saw she had lots of room, and then put up one seat, then both. She got use to it pretty fast.

Is he used to getting into cars or does he normally get in your other one?

One of my dogs is 140lbs and he has no issues.

Is your dog tall by chance?

Do you use a ramp?

He isn't very tall, just muscular - he had no issues jumping up into the jeep nor our other vehicle. Can't quite figure out what's causing the hesitation with the bronco sport, have even tried baiting him in with high value treats with little effect

I'll have to try that, he gives me trouble on occasion but almost every time with my wife if it's just her taking in somewhere in the Bronco

Ok cool, we use a ramp so maybe consider one of those?

I've got a 35 pound Border Collie who is thrilled to hop up, but the trim scratches so easily in this car that I just lift her onto the backseat. Treats are your friend. Place one on the lip of the door, one on the floor of the backseat, and one on the edge of the seat itself. Then a nice little "jackpot" pile to reward the final step in the middle of the seat. Lots of praise and encouragement. Stand on the other side with both back doors open and beckon him up. He's a big boy, he can definitely do it without a ramp. Dogs are just creatures of habit and need a bit of love to try new things. Good luck!

our cane corso puppy loves car rides, we just have to boost him up by his bottom. he can get the front paws up no problem, it's his ghetto booty we have to help with.

I have a lab mix and she never had trouble getting in my Ram 1500. I thought the Bronco would be easier as it was lower. I think with the rear of the front seat being closer to the rear bench she didn't have as much room to jump up and in. I also noticed the door sill area was smaller and slick so I added some traction for her.

2yr old pup is like a stubborn teenager. Repetition will break a habit. Like any training technique train & reward. Have the pup just getting in, sit, treat, out, sit treat repeat. Final reward take your dog for a short ride get out and take a short walk, even just around a block. Do that a few days a week any dog will be begging to get in the car
