I have a 2022 Bronco Sport Big Bend - non B&O. I'm looking to upgrade the 4 speakers. I'm not looking to break the bank. I'm simply trying to upgrade my factory speakers that sound better.
I'm somewhat confused as I'm getting mixed messages from members here and what Crutchfield says fits my BS. I have seen people here say that they put 4 of the same speaker in the 4 doors. Yet Crutchfield claims they only sell 7 speakers that fit the front door. Yet are 72 that fit the rear door. I gather from that, that there are different sizes or dimensions for front speakers?

Any recommendations or advice would be greatly appreciated.

I put Pioneer TS-D65Fs front and back in my Big Bend. They sounded great. It's all in this thread.

I have since sold the Big Bend and got an Outer Banks with the B&O.

Adding an amp would make the factory speakers sound better than adding new speakers with no amp.
Given the description of how cheap the stock speakers are, I think the stock head unit/amp are better than the speakers. Of all the posts I have seen, people are very happy with new speakers first. After that, an amp would be the next step.

I had the same experience with Crutchfield. Any 6.5" speakers will work with the right adapters. Here's what I used.

Adapters
AmazonSmile: Metra 82-5605 Rear 6.5" Speaker Plate - Pair : Automotive

Sealing tape
AmazonSmile: uxcell a15011200ux0430 Black 10m 33ft Length Car Speaker Sealing Tape : Industrial & Scientific

Speaker wire adapters
AmazonSmile: (2) Pair of Metra 72-5602 Speaker Wire Adapters for Ford and Mazda Vehicles - 4 Total Adapters : Automotive

Speakers
AmazonSmile: JBL GTO629 Premium 6.5-Inch Co-Axial Speaker - Set of 2 : Electronics

You have your choice of tons of speakers. I went with a good mid-range and am happy with it.

How do you like the JBL's? They are a little cheaper than the Pioneers I have been looking at. Do you think they provide a good over all full sound? I already have a Kicker Amp and Sub, I'm just looking for an option to replace the stock door's...

Thanks man!

I like them, particularly that the tweeter allows movement to point it up and back to your ears. Having said that, I've used Pioneer with good results as well as Infinity, Focal, and others. I don't spend a great deal of time in the car these days, so I didn't go all out like I used to with stereo components. I wouldn't say the JBLs are the best out of all the choices out there, but they beat the factory speakers by a mile.

I ended up getting these Pioneer Speakers off of Amazon that were a nice improvement to the factory speakers. I also had to get these adapters from Best Buy and everything installed easily.

So would you replace the speakers in OB w/B&O? I am compiling a list of things to do when my BL w B&O arrives and not sure if I should add speakers or not to the list.

No I wouldn't. I think it sounds great. But that's just me. There are others that find the B&O not up to their standards. Everyone is different and some have way higher expectations. If you want low deep window rattling bass, the B&O isn't going to suffice. It's a definite step up from the basic system and gives better lows all while being built in without any of the equipment taking up any extra cargo space.

An audiophile is going to find it lacking. A casual listener will find it pretty good. How good it is or isn't is subjective.

Just did ours a few weeks ago.

The one thing I’ll say is AVOID the Nissan adapter rings everyone uses here - I had to do more cutting and modifying than it was worth. Just buy the correct Ford ones (same kit for an F150 IIRC) and you’ll be golden. If you are patient unlike me, Best Buy has a kit with adapter rings and wiring that was like $22 but had to be ordered.

I went with Focal Access IC-165s which are coaxial speakers. They definitely need an amp to really shine, but are a HUGE improvement over stock. Only thing that got me was they’re a bit heavy on the treble but I also still have the factory tweeters in the dash.

One thing I will say though is ditch the OEM speakers. They’re an absolute joke and almost an embarrassment for what I’d expect even from a “budget” perspective.

Most speakers will fit. The issue with the front speaker holes is there’s a window regulator / guide frame that goes directly behind the speaker. You could have problems getting a 6.5 “ speaker with too large of a magnet from fitting. My Morel Virtus speakers just barely fit. Nothing is blocking the rear speakers, so there’s no depth issues back there.

I just swapped out my door speakers last night with the Powerbass direct drop ins. Here's a picture to show the difference in the speaker construction. I was totally shocked at how poor the stock speakers are. I weighed the speakers to see the difference. Get this, the stock speaker weighs 9.7 oz. Anemic doesn't even begin to describe it. The Powerbass weighs 32.9 oz, most of that being the magnet. Right away I noticed that the stock speakers are fairly distorted even at low levels, a lack of clarity. The Powerbass was a big upgrade in that department. Admittedly I have not done a "break-in" on the new speakers. I will tackle the tweeters another day. As others have noted, there's 3 different socket sizes needed, 7,8 and 10mm.

So what is your longer term assessment? Did it make a difference? Are you going to do any of the other speakers?

I still have not done with tweeters only due to free time. As this point, was it worth it? Yes. However, if you're going to go through the trouble of ripping your doors aparts (and potentially break clips like me), get the speakers you really want. Not that there's anything wrong with the Powerbass ones.... but the one thing they actually lack is bass. Clarity is much improved. I'm sure the head unit powering all of this is grossly underwhelming as well which probably doesn't help the speaker situation.
