Ok, had 1st Gen Escape in (wait for it....) yellow! Really liked it, and wanted a smaller SUVish sorta vehicle but really wanted some level of off road capability, as I tend to wander off the beaten path for fishing and hiking. The list of "good utility" smaller SUVs is rather small - and this came along at the right time.

Oh how I wanted that yellow!

My dad was a HUGE Ford guy. I miss him very much. I know this would have made him smile. Also, I was getting to the end of a lease (first and last time I'll do that) and was able to get a lot back so had a nice down payment.
My dad HATED Fords. But he would've smiled that I bought one anyway knowing how much he hated them. I miss him too.

Cuz my wife said so! ??
Me too! My wife absolutely DETESTED my EcoBoost Mustang, mainly because it had a manual transmission. Man, that was the most fun car I even owned, but it just wasn't worth sacrificing marital bliss for.

I've had a Fiesta for about 6 years, and it's been perfect for the intended use - something smaller that can park easily, gets good mileage, and still haul me and some stuff around.

As I've since picked up an adorable dog and a long-time girlfriend along the way, that little Fiesta just doesn't really fit the three of us and our stuff (especially on longer road trips to visit family). I had looked into the Maverick because of the hybrid and I liked the idea of a smaller pickup truck for having in the city (as my F-150 before the Fiesta was just wayyyyy too big for this), but my last long road trip made me realize the configuration of needing to put suitcases in the bed just wouldn't work out when the weather is gross. Started looking around at CUVs, realllllly liked the look of the Bronco Sport (love that they kept that retro boxier style vs the smooth curves of so many other brands), test drove one over Thanksgiving visiting family, and really dug it. No dealership on the east coast had the configuration I wanted, so ended up ordering through a local dealer (also nice that I was able to use the Z plan via ordering).

And now, just waiting for it to get here.

I didn't order mine, but I got lucky in that I stumbled upon a local dealer who had exactly what I would have ordered to begin with.

That said, I bought it because:

- It doesn't have an automated-manual transmission.

- It has an honest-to-goodness automatic transmission (not a CVT).

- It doesn't have an automated-manual transmission.

- I like the look of it.

- It doesn't have an automated-manual transmission.

- It has 4WD.

- It doesn't have an automated-manual transmission.

Sorry for the repetition, but I spent 9 years in a 2012 Ford Focus. I have PTSD about that transmission system. :cwl:

We ordered our '22 BS specifically to replace our 2012 Focus!

I have only ever owned small 4 door vehicles (except for my scion). I went from a '94 corolla to a '03 corolla (adventurous I know), then a '12 Scion TC. From 2011-2018 I worked from home and really didn't need to worry about driving in bad weather, however I live in Boise, Idaho and we can get some extreme weather/cold. After 2018, my job stopped allowing me to work from home (until 2020, lol), but I needed something with AWD, so I ended up buying an Audi A3 because I always loved the look of Audi's, and their quattro system is one of the best. I also recently started fishing and camping a lot more, and the Audi was just not cutting it when driving over rougher roads.

Over the past year I started a new job, and while I can work remotely part time with them, the office is much further and I wasn't as in love with my Audi as I used to be...plus it needs new tires and I didn't want to spend $700 on a new set of tires for a vehicle I might sell. Also, I realized that I missed 2 things about my Scion, one was the hatchback trunk and being able to carry larger items with the seats down, and the other thing was the black color.

I don't remember how I came across the Bronco Sport...maybe I saw one driving, maybe I saw a video or article, all I remember is that I fell in love immediately. Took one for a test drive, decided on a black Badlands, ordered on 10/29/21, and it just arrived at the dealership yesterday (2/22/22). I am going to pick it up on Friday.

My current lease was coming to an end, was in the market for a small SUV with AWD. I was originally interested in the Escape before the Bronco Sports started hitting dealer lots so I looked at a couple of them and decide thats what I wanted. Its size, efficency, and boxy look that also gives it more cargo space are what appealed to me the most. It's not hardcore like a big Bronco, but its cooler looking, more capable, and more interesting than something like an Escape.

With the shortages whether I went with a BS or something else I was more than likely gonna have to order to get what I want so I bought out my lease last August and ordered a '22 Big Bend.

-I was looking for small crossovers. Good mileage + AWD. I procrastinated and by the time I was able to really focus on the market, used car prices were soaring. I liked the Edge, CRV, MKC, RAV4, Escape. I couldnt find one I liked, and when I found something acceptable it was $24-30K,
3 or 4 years old with 30-70K mileage. Might as well go new!

I think it will be a good pass down to my daughters. I don’t want to be messing with a used car market in 3 years, it could be worse

i think it will hold its value

Family D plan

Ive owned a Montero, a Land Cruiser, 2 full size Broncos, and an Excursion. I‘m attracted to that Defender style boxy look.

Thanks! I went on Kelley Blue Book today to get my Audi's value, and checked the box saying it was okay to contact me...let's just say there still must be a shortage of used cars and this is a great time to sell. I'm pitting 4 different dealerships against each other right now :cwl:

Started a little over 1 year ago. Originally I was interested in the full size, but the size and practicality and price made me look at the Sports. Shopped Bronco Sport online for a few months and went to many dealers just trying to get a test drive and see the colors in person because the online configurator is so terrible. I hadn't completely settled on colors or options but even in Feb 2021 the scarcity was obvious. Every car I found with the Ford build/locate tool was presold or unavailable. I managed to find an Alta Blue Outer Banks to test drive. It was nice, but not enough to sell me the car that day.

I finally found a dealer with a Cyber Orange Badlands that wasn't spoken for in March or April. I went to see it, and first it was missing a ton of options I wanted. Secondly, it had some kind of issue/defect so it was torn apart in the dealer shop awaiting a module and couldn't be test driven. It was also the first time I saw Cyber Orange in person. The color is really startling when we saw it. Honestly, it didn't blow me away. It's not quite school bus, not quite taxi, not quite Penske and not quite road sign. I liked it, but wished it had more copper/sunset to it. Just enough to make the average person say orange instead of yellow. I went back home and started thinking about colors all over. I also kept wondering if 2022 would give us the missing green color that would be my #1 choice. I was really thinking about waiting for 2022 orders to open up in the fall.

Almost another month goes by and I happen to be going past this dealer (it's over 30 miles from home) hauling the family to a Covid shot event. I go, "I wonder if they ever fixed or sold that Bronco"... as we go past, I see not 1, but 2 Cyber Orange parked in front so we U-turn and go in.
The first one I looked at is still there, but it was repaired and out of the shop. Dealer also added a lot of stuff like the fender flares. I didn't want the flares myself, but the extra black pieces really help the color get "grounded".

The other one just arrived and the dealer was going to do the same thing, adding flares and stuff but hadn't stated that work. This car (spoiler-it's the one we bought) was optioned exactly like I would have optioned the car. Not one thing added or missing but it did have the 360+ which I was wavering on and it came with the Falken tire option which I thought was a tad overpriced without the full "Steelie" package. I guess that is some sort of kismet or sign, right? We test drove it and I knew I would only purchase a Badlands version because the ride is just so nice compared to the Outer Banks we tried. It was minutes before closing so we left while I could think out the extra costs. Strongly in my consideration was the scarcity of these cars. If I didn't pull the trigger, inflation was really ramping up and I knew the 2022 stuff would cost even more, IF you could even find one to buy. This car was straight MSRP minus the rebates at the time. There was never going to be a better priced Bronco that was better equipped. I ended up calling the salesman and telling him to reserve it and not add the flares and stuff. He arranged it but of course couldn't guarantee anything since we didn't sign. I got there right when they opened on Monday to purchase it.

Hindsights- get the 360+ if you can. The extra warnings can get tedious because they give more false positives than I'd like, and the Navigation is subpar, but the adaptive cruise is just incredible tech. The Falken tire is really quiet on road and I think a really good option for mixed-use driving. I wanted a black roof. I still like the black roof, but I bet the carbonized grey would be easier to clean and keep swirl-free. I didn't want a moon roof, but that's the only way to get the Badlands (premium) at the time. I'm not a sportsman person, but I have looked at hauling roof gear and the 50lb weight loss is huuuge. If you want to haul paddle boards or kayaks or even a cargo box you may want to forgo the moonroof. Although consider the whole GVWR too because honestly, the car is not rated to haul a lot of weight and everything adds up. 880lbs hits really quick if you are towing or have gear in or on the car. Given the redacted stuff on a 2022, the 2021 is the year to own IMO. One thing that concerns me long term is part availability. Someday this 2021 is going to be needing something. Will I be able to get a perfect replacement OEM part? Or will it be a redesigned, reconfigured 2022+ part? Let's hope I never have to replace the coveted engine cover. They've manufactured over twice as many cars as covers and the missing ones are eating up the spare supply!

Here's a pic of that sister car we didn't buy, next to a Union Pacific work truck that was on the lot. Less yellow than the train, but less orange than the Badlands logo. Someone bought this car, are you here on the forum!?

First time poster, love this forum!

My reason was similar to many of you, on a whim! But also calculated in choosing the BS Big Bend.

A co-worker traded in his Subaru and couldn't believe how much he was given for it. So I looked into it for myself with my Subaru.
The local Ford dealer gave me literally more than what I originally paid for my '19 Forester Sport off the lot in 2018. 3+ years into the loan. So with no $ down I lowered my monthly payment a significant amount.

As far as choosing the Bronco Sport? I work in Seattle and live in the foothills of the mountains a half hour outside the city. The BS is practical enough for big city driving and has the entertainment features to keep me occupied in jams. Just as Importantly it's practical and capable for my weekend excursions to the mountains or the coast.

I feel sometimes there's an obligation to go bigger and "better" but honestly all these Broncos are great. And the Sport was better for my situation.

So after 13 years of Subarus I have my first Ford. Any pitfalls? Let me know but I love it so far and don't necessarily mind the 3 people so far that mistook my purchase for a Range Rover
