So I have had my BS for about seven months. It got its first oil change about three weeks ago. One of my turn signal bulbs burned out about two months ago. I replaced them with the correct bulbs I replaced both because why not they come in a two pack. Ever since then my turn signal has hyper flashes on the dashboard but the lights on the exterior of the car flash at normal rate. I have a light bar and ditch lights that are wired to a wireless switch gang that is connected to the battery it just puts the light switch on a remote. Also they were bitching because I have my dashcam plugged into my odb2 port. My ford dealership said they won’t work on the vehicle until that stuff is disconnected and said this could be causing the hyper flashing through a problem in the bcm. I don’t see how the two are connected but whatever. Especially because the hyper flashing occurred before these were connected. The stealership said they didn’t believe that. I have called Ford but they don’t seem to want to help. I think they just don’t want to work on it or their electrician isn’t smart enough. They also said this won’t be warranty work because I have altered the electrical system.

I think the bcm just needs a reset so I’d like to disconnect it and see what happens. Anyone have any thoughts on this? I know the bcm is on the passenger side is it behind the glove compartment? Does anyone know where I can find this thing? Do I just need to disconnect it for a bit? I disconnected the battery for several hours but that didn’t even reset my radio.

The only thing I know about cars is that they go when you hit the gas and stop when you hit the brakes, if its working properly. That said, did you try to disconnect the extra stuff you did? Undoing what I do is always my first tactic. That way I know if something is actually broken or just flaky.

Best case everything is fine when its back to stock and you know where to start to try again. Without the extra stuff if its still broken and your sure you put it back the way it came then maybe they will try to fix it.

Unfortunately for me if I ever try to mod something or even take it apart I always damage it badly and that's on me. Combine the fact that the sport is still not all that common with techs who might just have been hired off the street from a year of unemployment or more... I don't doubt they have no idea how to fix things that are not exactly like the book says.

Usually the indicator blinks rapidly to alert you a lamp is inoperative. I'm assuming the dash indicator was working properly before you replaced the lamps, i.e. the side with the burned out lamp blinked rapidly and the side with the good lamp blinked at normal speed. If the system was working correctly before you changed the lamps I would start with the assumption there is an issue with the new lamps. It's rare to get parts that are bad right out of the box, but it's not unheard of.

Question: Does the dash indicator blink rapidly for both turn signals? If not, have you tried swapping the lamps?

i have tried swapping lamps I have tried three different sets of bulbs. Originally just one side would blink rapidly then it was both sides when I replaced them. All the outside lights blink normal pace it’s just on the dash that blinks rapidly.

I have tried disconnecting everything. It wasn’t a big deal I just undid them from the battery terminals.

I should add that I have tried 912s 921s and 912 leds which I know will make it blink rapidly. I originally did not try these just the incandescent ones

Hmmm. Does the clicking sound match the flashing rate of the dash or exterior lights?

Matches the dash fast click.
I know in older vehicles the click was made by a mechanical switch. A small piece of metal that changes shape with heat would click back and forth to make and break the electrical contact illuminating the lamp. In newer cars all the switches are electronic relays, and the noise you hear is an electronic sound effect. Since the clicking does not match the exterior lights the relay used in the Bronco Sport must not be mechanical. That means the dash display and fake click sound is controlled by the computer, which for some reason believes your turn signal lamps are inoperative. This is usually a result of a change in current detected on the circuit, which from the dealership's perspective could very well have something to do with the modifications you made to your electrical system.

These kinds of CAN BUS issues are notoriously difficult to track down, so I'm not surprised the dealer is pushing back. The electrical system in modern cars is one of the things I try not to muck with when the car is still under warranty. If you have an accessory you want to install it may be worth the money to have your normal service shop do the installation. That way if there's an issue it's their problem, not yours.

That’s ridiculous though I shouldn’t have to pay them to connect two wires to the battery and plug in an odb2 plug. Also with everything disconnected I still have the problem.

I’m also fairly certain that resetting the bcm will fix this which the dealership wouldn’t try because they didn’t want to unplug the ODB plug that functions as the dash cams power supply. I guess I didn’t tell them that was there but it’s pretty obvious to see.

Maybe find someone with a FORScan to read your ecu and see if anything pops up ?‍♂

Think it's understandable why the dealership would not want to investigate their time further into that at no cost. while you have already made changes to electrical things that may affect it.

Timeline or not about the incident happening when you brought the vehicle in it has been altered.

The original rear turn signal bulb is WY16W. This is an incandescent bulb. This vehicle is not designed for an LED bulb to be used in this socket. This is why you are having the issues.

Replace with the WY16W bulb and you should be fine.

It’s a shame that they didn’t investigate further. A day later I noticed my brake lights weren’t getting bright when I hit the brakes. I replaced those bulbs and the hyper flashing went away.

It wasn’t the turn signal bulbs it was the brake light bulbs. They weren’t getting bright when I hit the brakes. I replaced those and the hyper flashing went away. The dealership was swearing up and down that it could be the bcm.
