Before i commit to doing anything - is there any reason i cant judt remove that carboard thing for a template and fabricate a skidplate that matches ... i noticed a few points that i could attach it a little better - qnd possibly make a little better "oild access and drain plug accessibility but as far as the plate goes ... would that not work just fine?
Has anyone given thought to using a sheet of UHMW to fabricate a skid plate? In saw mills it is used under the chains that carry logs and lumber. Very tough and slick material.

Yeah, that’s what I’m considering. You can also get a glass filled UHMWPE. A little spendy, and only available in a weird blue color though. It’s called Tivar 88, they use it for dump truck and rock chute liners.

I’ve thought about getting a nudge bar and modifying it to work with the tow hooks, then using it as a forward attachment point for the skid plate. Only thing I’m not super confident about is bending the UHMW cleanly.

Skid plates made out of that material are used for ATV vehicles already. Might be possible to scale up but may end up being quite thick compared to steel or aluminium alloy.
