Says “new belt driven water pump” for the 2025 2L engine
Also says the 2L engine is completely new for 2025 with few parts shared from the prior 2.0L used in mavericks and Bronco Sports but others have said the 2025 MPC engines (both 1.5L and 2L) have been used since 2023 in certain Ford vehicles
I wonder if the info he’s presenting in this video is accurate info supplied by Ford
Does the maverick use the 8F35 transmission in some models? The video says it’s 7-speed.

Just curious if u know if the latter 2 are both the 8F35 transmission with just different programming (8-Speed and the 7 speed)?

2.0 litre Mavericks use the 8F35
According to Ford authority the 7 speed version was previously used in the Focus ST and Edge ST, 2nd gear is programmed out, the Lobo also uses the additional transmission cooling from the 4k tow package.

I mean, in normal driving conditions, the 8F35 also skips second gear.

This is noticed most directly by switching into manual shifting mode, and going from first to second, and then second to third, and there being almost no difference in RPMs between 2nd and 3rd gear.

So while the 8F35 is technically an eight speed, it’s handled more like a seven speed.

My “guess” is that the Lobo is just programmed differently to remove 2nd gear from the equation altogether.

I’m not aware of Ford having a seven speed transmission that is almost identical to the 8F35.
